Julianna Hudgins: Guest Designer

Can I just say I am BLESSED and a DREAM came true?! Julianna Hudgins and her Design Team Coordinator, Holly Simoni, asked me to be their FIRST GUEST DESIGNER on the Positively Me™ Blog!!!! Ummm....YES!!!!!!!!!!

I have known this sweet, talented, inspiring and wonderful lady for several years...before she became this well-known jewelry personality on TV, trade shows and other venues. We "met" WAY BACK when both of us were on a Yahoo Group called NJScrappers. Julianna asked people in the group to help her kit, etc. but I could never go...a distance for me to travel :0(

But we finally got to meet when both of us attended 2006 Summer CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) trade show in Chicago....took us five years to finally meet! LOL!!

Sorry for the blurry picture and this was taken in 2007...I think we were rushed the year before in 2006! LOL!! I don't think we have a picture of us together since! Next show...update picture, Jewels!

Visit Positively Me Blog's Guest Designer Margie Higuchi - Jewel Goddess Scrapbook Page post and leave comment, she would love to hear from you all! She has a REALLY COOL DESIGN TEAM with some great inspiration and out of the box ideas :0)

This is my project that I created with her Want2Scrap collaboration of chipboard and bling products...

ScrapMart: BOO!

Although we are enjoying the summer in the Chicago area, I am already thinkin' FALL!!! LOL! During 2012 Summer CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) trade show, I was kindly given a sampler package of Carta Bella papers.

Carta Bella Booth at 2012 Summer CHA

Carta Bella Booth at 2012 Summer CHA
All Hallow's Eve Collection displayed on the left

In the package, there were a couple of sheets of the All Hallow's Eve Collection! Giving myself a challenge on how to use the two papers, I came up with a 6x6" card.

Boo! card by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock & Letter Stickers: American Crafts; Patterned Paper: Carta Bella (All Hallow's Eve Collection); Ink: Ranger (Distress Ink Black Soot) and Clearsnap (ColorBox Donna Salazar Mix'd Media Inx Jasmine); Dies: Spellbinders™ Paper Arts (S4-330 Nested Tombstones, S4-333 Spider Web and S4-280 Halloween Fence Scenes and Shapes); Adhesives: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever) and SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L (3D Foam Squares); Other: Googley Eyes

I LOVE Spellbinders newest seasonal releases (available NOW!) - S4-330 Nested Tombstones and S4-333 Spider Web! Included in this card front is S4-280 Halloween Fence Scenes and Shapes set - it's such a perfect border for the bottom edge!

The spider from S4-333 Spider Web, I stenciled through the die with Donna Salazar's Mix'd Media Inx Jasmine and used it in the inside of the card as an accent! LOVE!!

It helps that the papers were double-sided! The flip side of both papers were used on the larger tombstone and the fence among other accents. Add glittered white Thickers and googley eyes - it's ready for a cute spook!

Thanks for stopping by...I'm hoping to get some CHA pictures up but deadlines and life gets in the way so please stay tuned!

TaDa Creative Studios: Decorative Labels Eight Birthday Card

On TaDa Creative Studios' Blog, I created a shaped card out of the newest Spellbinders Paper™ Arts Nestabilities® Decorative Elements dies, S5-148 Decorative Labels Eight. Don't you love the detailed edge on this set?! LOVE!! It matches their S5-019 Labels Eight set.

Decorative Labels Eight Birthday Card by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Papers: TaDa Creative Studios (Goody Two Shoes Collection); Ink: Clearsnap; Ink Mist: Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist (Pink Bubblegum); Stamp: JustRite PaperCrafters (Elegant Charms set); Bling: Want2Scrap; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-378 Cherry Blossoms, S5-148 Decorative Labels Eight, S5-019 Labels Eight and S4-367 Back to Basics Tags); Adhesives: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever) and SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES By 3L (3D Foam Squares)

Just a note...when you use dies with intrique cuts, make sure to put wax paper between the die and cardstock to pop the paper out with ease. After a couple of times using this die set, I don't need to use wax paper anymore :)

I made this card for a dear friend of mine who I was with on her birthday - didn't bother to tell me and found out through FaceBook (but she did not post her birthday on there)! Thanks to one of her friends from Japan who posted - LOL!! So happy belated birthday, Emi!!!

If you have a chance come visit Decorative Labels Eight Birthday Card post on TaDa Creative Studios' Blog and let them know what you think of my card! They love feedback :0)

Thanks for taking the time to pop in!

ScrapMart: Holiday Tree Card

Hi all! Today's post is all about the holidays! I love this swirly elegant tree from Spellbinders™ Paper Arts. This is one is part of their seasonal holiday collection - S4-339 Holiday Tree!

Swirly Tree Card by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Crafts (Green) & WorldWin Papers (Gold Mirror Paper); Patterned Paper: October Afternoon (Holiday Style Collection); Bling: Want2Scrap; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-339 Holiday Tree, E8-004 Classic Ric Rac, Flower w/ Dots Deco Inserts, & E8-003 Classic Triple Scallop, Edger); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever)

This S4-339 Holiday Tree is one of many seasonal die templates that were introduced last month by Spellbinders. Scrap-mart.com has the seasonal collection available to order! Also they have Sneak Peek: Spellbinders Summer Spectacular! Blog Frenzy products too!! So pre-order those too :0)

These intricate dies will need wax paper between the die and cardstock (or whatever medium) for easier use. This particular one, I pass through Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Die Cutting and Embossing Machine once. Then I rotated my die template and pass through again. After I embossed the die, it turned out PERFECT! Just look at that tree = LOVE! LOL!

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post!
Hope you visit again - be a follower to get updates on my blog :0)

TaDa: Mustang 2012

Today on TaDa Creative Studios FaceBook, I posted a layout using their Oooh La La (lasercut) paper - Swim Meet. SO COOL~! I had pictures left over from my nephew's swim meet at the American School In Japan (ASIJ)...

Mustangs by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock and Stickers: TaDa Creative Studios (Poolside Collection); Rope: Canvas Corp.; Epoxy Embellishment: Epiphany Crafts; Markers: KURETAKE ZIG; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-092 Stars, S4-335 Star Circles and S5-132 A-2 Matting Basics B); Adhesive: ScraPerfect; Other yellow, black & white cardstock, foam tape

This is how I created my star embellishment - lots of layering and shifting. To top it off, I wrote 2012 in gold with KURETAKE ZIG's Painty Twin and it really makes it shine! I chose these colors (black and gold/yellow) to reflect the school colors...GO MUSTANGS!

Another great way to show off your swimmer with TaDa Creative Studios' Poolside Collection!

This page is also running for the KURETAKE ZIG challenge - GOing For the Gold Challenge :0)

Thanks for coming by!

ScrapMart: Happy Belated Birthday

Last week was my husband's 50th birthday!! What do you get someone who has everything?! Well, how about a house full of in-laws?! LOL!!

My sister-in-law and friend were in town - their kids attend summer school and camp at Northwestern University. They rented a car for the day so they came to visit. LOVE to spend time with family :0)

So happy belated birthday, honey...just what you wanted a house full of yappy and happy people! HA!

The cake we got him was from a Japanese bakery (Mont Blanc) in Arlington Hts, IL. If you are in the area, you have to taste their cakes and they also sell by the slice = YUM~!

For him, I created this card....

Pinwheel Birthday by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Papers: Authentique Paper (Loyal Collection); Stamp: JustRite Stampers (Elegant Charms set); Ink: Clearsnap;  Burlap Twine: May Arts; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S5-131 A-2 Matting Basics A, S5-132 A-2 Matting Basics B, S5-137 Diamond Strips and Accents, S5-029 Lacey Pennants, S5-125 Pinwheels); Epoxy Embellie: Epiphany Crafts (Round 14); Tool: ScorPal; Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever); Other: button

The highlighted supplies are available at Scrap-mart.com - LOVE that store :) Don't forget to sign up to receive their monthly 40% off coupon for one regular priced item. Been a customer of theirs for years!!

See the triple layers?! Those were cut and embossed with the NEW CARD Creator series that Spellbinders Paper Arts is introducing at Summer CHA next week!!! For an A2 sized card, these basic matting sets and other decorative sets will be any paper crafters dream of a perfect cut and layering come true - it's a beautiful thing!!! LOL!!

ScrapMart: Floral Red White Blue Wreath

Since this week is the 4th of July, I thought I'd create something different other than a card or scrapbook page. In my "to be altered" pile, I came across a wreath ring and came up with this...

Floral Red, White & Blue Wreath by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Patterned Papers: Authentique Paper (Glory Collection); Rhinestones: Want2Scrap; Trinket Pins: Maya Road; Ribbon: American Craft (Grosgrain with Dots Ribbon); Paint: Ranger (C.Hellmuth Studio); Dies: Spellbinders™ Paper Arts (S4-351 Spiral Blossom One, S4-352 Spiral Blossom Two, S4-357 Spiral Blossom Three and S5-086 Bitty Blossoms); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever); Other: Wreath ring

This is how I made my base before adding all those wonderful flowers. I traced the ring to the patterned paper, cut and adhered to the ring. Trimmed the excess, sanded the edges and painted the edges for the finishing touch. Don't forget to add the ribbon BEFORE adhering the flowers :0)

This project came together in no time. The longest time was cutting and embossing the dies BUT even that wasn't bad. I had my Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Die Cutting and Embossing Machine which has a large plate that fit all of my die templates! Cuts time (pun intended - lol!!) = LOVE THAT!!

Hope you give this a try!

ScrapMart: Father's Day Box

Tomorrow is Father's Day...for me and others who have lost their fathers, it's a day of mixed emotions. So tomorrow, I will think HAPPY thoughts of mine and celebrate the day :) For starters, I created this cute box out of 7 1/2 x 10" patterned paper...I'll give you the link at the end of the post :)

Father's Day Box by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Patterned Papers: Tim Holtz (Crowded Attic Collection); Ink: Ranger (Distress Ink/Tim Holtz); Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S5-048 Sprightly Sprockets; S4-357 Spiral Blossom Three and Jewel Tones & Precious Metals Premium Craft Foils Assortment); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever); Other: Brad, Sand Paper

I enjoyed this project as it uses only one 12 x 12" paper...even the band can come from the same piece of paper (this one I used from another box I made...I did alot of them! LOL!). These step outs give you an idea of how easy it was! I even managed to sneak a flower in the project ;0P

The instruction details and video came from Dawn's Stamping Studio Surprise Box Video so visit her blog! Looks like she has a lot of fun creations :)

Milestone Birthday and Giveaway!!

I used to think 50 was SO OLD when I was a kid! LOL! Funny I don't feel OLD today...heehee! So today is my birthday and unfortunately, hubby has a business trip overseas for two weeks = BOO! That means you all have to deal with me :0)

Back in April, my BFFs from college days and I went to AZ for a girls' weekend...I haven't been on a long distance girls' weekend...so I was excited....equally exciting we all celebrated our milestone together....love that....love them xo

Using Teresa Collins' Everyday Moments Collection, I created a page to commemorate this special weekend (click on pictures for closer look) and special friends...Kathy, Debbie and Rita (we missed you, Theresa!!) - thanks for putting up with me for all these years and more years to come!!

Noteworthy by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Papers and Stickers: Teresa Collins (Everyday Moments Collection); Glitter and Ink: Ranger (Stickles/Distress Ink); Pins: Maya Road; Pearls: KaiserCrafts, PRIMA and Want2Scraps; Ribbon: Offray; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-351 Spiral Blossom One, S4-357 Spiral Blossom ThreeS5-086 Bitty Blossoms, S5-058 Ironworks Accents, S5-078 Persian Accents and S5-051 Fanciful Flight); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever)

TaDa Creative Studios: Beach Buddies

I am posting on TaDa Creative Studios' FaceBook Page today. Using 6 x 6" Sunny Skies Mini (laser cut cardstock) from the Poolside Collection, I made a frame from scratch.

Beach Buddies Frame by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Craft; LaserCut Cardstock, Patterned Papers, Stamp: TaDa Creative Studios (Poolside and Sizzlin' Summer Collections); Mesh Ribbon: Creative Impression; Ink: Ranger (Distress Ink/Tim Holtz) and Clearsnap; Marker: KURETAKE ZIG; Sand Paste and Shells: Mudd Puddles; Dies: Spellbinder Paper Arts (S5-029 Nested Lacey Pennants and S4-273 From The  Sea) and Sizzix (Easel/Tim Holtz); Stencil: Crafter's Workshop (Clouds); Texture Paste: Golden (Light Molding Paste); Ink Mist: Tattered Angels (Glimmer Mist Bronze); Adhesives: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever); Other: Crab Eyelet, Decorative Tape, White Paint

These are the materials I used to make the frame base...6 x6" cereal thin cardboard, 3 1/2 x 6" patterned paper (Poolside Snippets & Clippets Side B) adhered on the top and Sunny Skies Mini Paper is placed last. I forgot to add in the easel die cut that I cut from Tim Holtz Collection.

Then put the cloud stencil on top and add molding paste as shown - let dry. It will dry translucent so I add a little white paint. Let dry I sprayed Glimmer Mist on top half of the frame. A happy accident! The paper popped up especially around the sun to give it dimension! COOL! LOL! I stamped Beach Buddies (Sizzlin' Summer Acrylic Stamp Set = SOLD OUT, sorry!) on the pennant tail and placed it on the top right corner.

After placing the matted picture on the frame, I cut and embossed the fish. I stenciled with a rainbow chalk ink through the die template and touched up the colors when I popped the die cut out of the die template. I adhered the mesh ribbon and the fish on top - added bling as its eye :0)

What's a beach scene without sand?! Mudd Puddles is a great place to purchase sand paste - love their stuff!! Those mini shells also came from them too. Aren't they a wonderful addition?! Then I had this crab eyelet for years and finally has a home on this project! LOL!!

I hope you enjoyed all the details on this homemade frame!
Thanks for stopping by :0)

ScrapMart: Dad

I had this huge pad of Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Collection sitting in front of me and I thought what a perfect father's day card to create with! So I started with a shaped card base by cutting and embossing with Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® Postage Stamps dies.

Dad by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: Darice; Patterned Paper: Graphic 45 (A Proper Gentleman Collection); Stamp: JustRite Stampers (You Are The Best set); Ink: Clearsnap; Paint Pen: ZIG Kuretake; Pin: Maya Road; Gear: Idea-ology/Tim Holtz; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4348 Postage Stamps, S4-291 Labels Fifteen, S5-048 Sprightly Sprockets and S5-028 Nested Pennants); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever); Other: Button, Shrink Plastic

I used shrink plastic to cut and emboss the gear in Sprightly Sprockets and colored with silver paint pen. It looked really shiney so I inked with brown chalk ink and it worked well! Layered all the pieces together to create a wonderful Father's Day card!

As always, would love to hear from you - if you have questions, ask away! If you are interested in purchasing these products, visit Scrap-mart.com and they'll take care of you!
