Seasons Givings Holiday Blog Hop - Year 4: Rosette Embossed Holiday Tag

This blog hop post is now CLOSED...
THANK YOU so much for visiting and leaving comment.
Will post later today on the winner :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR~!!
明けましておめでとうございます~!

I am so thrilled and honored to be a part of this blog hop to THANK YOU for following me through my blog on my creative journey! A BIG FAT THANK YOU to Latisha Yoast for hosting this AMAZING Blog Hop - Year 4!!

Last month, I was part of a Christmas Tag Swap, using Prima Marketing's Victorian Christmas Collection by Frank Garcia (Prima Designer and Educator). I was SO HAPPY with it that I wanted to share with you how to create my Rosette Embossed Holiday Tag.

I cut 3¼ x 6¼" tag out of chipboard and patterned paper and adhered together. Then I embossed the tag with Holiday Magic M-Bossabilities™ Folder to create dimension. Spread Glass Bead Glitter Gel in the corner for extra sparkle (dries clear) and ink the edge with gold metallic ink. Set aside to dry.

For the rosettes, I made three different sizes per tag. All were 6" strips of paper and the widths were: ¾", 1" and 1½". Score and accordion fold every ¼". Adhere the ends together to create a ring. For the base of the rosette, use a scrap piece of paper, coat of liquid adhesive and place the ring over it (keeping as centered as you can). Then flatten the ring on top of the paper. Hold for a few moments. Tip: I put them under a heavy book and left them overnite to set and dry.

For the largest rosette, I cut 3¾" wired gold tinsel trim (picked up at a craft store) to form a circle and adhered on top of the rosette. With a stack of two 3D Foam Squares, I centered Lacey Circles Die Cut #2 (the smallest die size is #1) and then adhered Fonts One - Uppercase "JOY" word to finish.

The second rosette, I cut Layered Poinsettia Die #1 (2 pcs) and #2 (1 pc) with red felt. Layered and adhered the die cuts, use drops of Texture Gem™ Gold for its center. The leaf was cut from Layered Poinsettia Die #3 Petal and adhered to the flower. Then adhere the flower in the center of rosette with a stack of two Dodz™ - 3D.

For smallest rosette, I spread Texture Luxe™ Gold over its folds and centered the rosette with a colored rhinestone.

Assemble the embellished rosettes as shown by securing with Extreme Double Sided Tape ½" (large rosette) and 3D Foam Squares (medium and small rosettes). I fussy cut a small postcard design from one of the patterned papers and tuck it under the smallest rosette (either as accent or a place to write). Thread ribbon on top and you're done!

Hey everyone! I'm celebrating the New Year a little early...so Happy New Year, everyone! LOL!! On Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Blog, I created a shaped card put together mainly with Adhesive Sheets - 6 x 12", using the stunning Cascading Grace set by Spellbinders®/Amazing Paper Grace Designs by Becca Feeken.

I am showing a couple of sneak peeks so visit Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Blog to see the detailed step outs and full supplies list.

To be mail-friendly, I made it into one dimension - meaning that I did not add any of my favorite 3D Foam Squares to "pop up" the layers. It is a simple yet elegant card using the beautiful design of the die set and the stunning metallic foil and glitter cardstock, along with clear rhinestones.

Don't forget - visit and comment on the Celebrate Shaped Card and Adhesive Sheets Tutorial post!

Parchment and Old Lace by Laura Childs with Terrie Farley Moran

GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!!!
THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING!
WILL ANNOUNCE THE WINNER NEXT WEEK (WK of 12/21) :)

Awhile ago, I had an opportunity* to read a book before its official release back in October. With a little break from the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) trade show prep, I finally had a chance to write about Parchment and Old Lace written by Laura Childs with Terrie Farley Moran. Stick around to the very end - there's a giveaway!

Summary:
A murder of an up and coming female prosecutor in the district attorney's office took place in New Orleans. Carmela, a scrapbook shop owner, and her police detective boyfriend tries to solve the case with some twists and turns that include a little bit of card reading and voodoo! LOL!

Thoughts:
There were some quirky bits in the story but mostly a fun and entertaining read. The color and charm of New Orleans comes through the pages. Since I haven't been there...yet, it was interesting to read about the City and its people. Those who are interested in paper crafting, there are some tips and ideas included to try. In addition, there were recipes shared along the way. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Childs' books - there seems to be a "scrapbook" series to choose from :)

I created a book mark - what's a book without a book mark?! LOL! Taking the title literally, the base was cut with parchment paper which was embossed and misted with color.

After embossing my tag die cut, I added a little bit of Pigment Powder - Pink and water to my mister and sprayed a little here and there. It gave a beautiful shimmery finish :)

From my scrap pile, I pulled out a piece of acetate with lace adhered to it and trimmed it to create a band in the middle of my book mark. Using Adhesive Sheets - 4 x 6", I secured it down before adding my white faux leather flowers.

I colored the flower die cuts with Pigment Powder - Pink and sealed with Gel Medium. Let dry, layer them and fasten a gold brad in the center. Then adhere the flower with DODZ™ - 3D.

Rub Pigment Powder - Gold onto the 3D Foam Swirls. Add a swirl on each side of flower. Tie an organza ribbon and it's ready to be used!

Supplies List:
Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®: Adhesives Sheets - 4 x 6" and DODZ™ - 3D
Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® with Donna Salazar: Pigment Powder - Pink, Pigment Powder - GoldTextured Ribbons (Organza) and 3D Foam Swirls
Dies: Rose Creations and Venetian Embossing Folder (Spellbinders® Creative Arts); Framelits Die Set 8 Pack - Tags Collection (Sizzix®)
Gel Medium: Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft®
Other: Parchment Paper

Giveaway:
Great news for those of you interested in reading this book!! A giveaway for a HARD COVER COPY OF PARCHMENT AND OLD LACE to one winner (U.S. entries only). If you are interested, please COMMENT in THIS POST on what kind of books you usually read :) Me: recently it has been historical fiction. Deadline to respond by 12:01 am CST DECEMBER 19 2015 (Saturday). GOOD LUCK!!

As always, thank you for stopping by!!

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft: Metallic Luxe Holiday Glass Jar Decoration

Hello and Happy December!! Can you believe the year is almost over?! YIKES! LOL! Today I am starting my holiday-related projects with a post on Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® Blog with this NEW favorite project of mine :)

The trend of glass jar is going strong and I wanted to see what I can do with it using the Texture Luxe™ Pearl medium. What is Texture Luxe™? It is an opaque acrylic paste designed to create a thick texture with a shimmery metallic finish. So I used it as a paint to cover the glass jar! What do you think?

I started with a clean glass jar and painted Texture Luxe™ Pearl about 3 to 4 coats with dry time for each coat. While the last coat dried, I cut Holly Wreath die three times with thin chipboard. Then I stacked the die cuts, gluing each with Gel Medium to create a thick embellishment piece.

Just a few peeks and you'll have to visit their blog for more details steps...

See you over at Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® Blog for more details and a full supplies list!

Thanks for stopping by!!

2015 One Of A Kind Rubber Stamp & Scrapbook Show in Madison WI

This is where I was this past weekend - One Of A Kind Rubber Stamp & Scrapbook Show in Madison, WI AND right before Bella, a huge snow storm (our first snow fall of the season). It came in fast and furious (Friday night through Saturday mid-afternoon, dumping between 4" to 14"). Madison accumulated about 4". Schaumburg IL (home) had 6" but other areas got up to 14" - not fun.

I hitched a ride with my favorite LSS (Local Scrapbook Store), Craft Fancy (they were vending at the show). 6 am on Friday morning we headed off. To "earn" my ride, I helped set up the booth a little while making a mental shopping list - LOL!! Look how nice the booth turned out - beautiful!

After helping, I went off to say hello to Greg Smallwood and my "home" booth, Marco's Paper, for the weekend. Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® asked me to show off their products to his customers. Who can say no to sharing my addiction...er, love of their stuff?! LOL!

After checking into my hotel which was connected to the hall, I came back onto the floor to get ready for the Make'n Take Market. From 6 pm to 10 pm, vendors had a table at their booth for customers come in and create a project. They had four hours to create as many projects as they can or get a head's start on shopping. Here are some of my new friends creating my project...

My table was busy. Then it was quiet for five minutes - perfect time to clean. When I looked up, I see five happy faces ready to go and they were my last group as time was called! Boy, 10 pm went by fast! LOL! This was what they made...

Guess who was at the show?! None other than the talented Wendy Vecchi! She was demonstrating at the Stamper's Anonymous Booth. I was excited to see this booth...no stamp shows in the Chicago area so I never seen their booth - only images. So I got to see it up close and live! LOVE!! Thanks for taking a picture with me, Wendy!

Special thanks to Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® for sponsoring me, Greg Smallwood of Marco's Paper for being such a wonderful host, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® for providing the adhesives for both Make'n Take and demos, and Craft Fancy for putting up with me! LOL!!

Thanks for stopping by!
