Happy National Watermelon Day!

WoW! I haven't been on my blog at all this year...yikes! Well, today I hope to make it up to you with this adorable (and easy) Watermelon Box...because it's National Watermelon Day! Come make one with me and get the kids involved!

**I receive products from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® for use in my projects. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience and by doing so I can share what I personally love to use.**

Box Base

Trim a piece of 6.5 x 5.25-inch dark green cardstock. On the longer side (6.5-inch) facing up on the scoreboard, score at 2.25, 3, 5.25, and 6-inch. Then flip to the 5.25-inch side and score at 0.75, 1.5, 3.75, and 4.5-inch. Burnish all the score lines.

With the 6.5-inch side up, cut all the vertical score lines where they intersect with the second score line. From left to right, cut off the two narrow stacking rectangle shapes, one square, two large rectangles, and one square. Mieter the cut edges. See the picture below to get the final results from the cuts.

Embellish the Box Front

Cut a piece of 2 x 2 1/8-inch dark red cardstock to create the box front panel. Then cut cream and light green cardstock strips - it doesn't matter the length as long as the width is 2 inches. These two colors will be used as melon rinds.

For interest, I angle-cut the rinds and used the box front panel as a guide to trim. Using the E-Z Dots® Repositionable Dispenser was a good choice as I had to position the piece a few times until I got my desired look.

Assemble the Box

Assemble the box with the Crafty Power Tape (aka tear tape). The 1/4-inch wide tape is aligned along one side of the slightly larger liner. So I can perfectly place two pieces of tape on the side tab. Because the tape was offset, it helped to easily remove the liner. LOVE!!! Adhere the ends together.

Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside with 3D Foam Garden Shapes

Using the raindrop shapes from the 3D Foam Garden Shapes as watermelon seeds, I randomly placed them, leaving room for the sentiment strip. Once my desired design was created, I adhered the sentiment with the E-Z Runner® Micro Strips Dispenser to the box front - great for narrow strips!

Remove the liners from the "seeds" and place a small piece of black foil from the Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets Nature Colors over the adhesive. Make sure to face the foil color to you, rub gently to transfer the color, and peel off. EASY!!

I hope you enjoyed my Watermelon Box tutorial. It's so easy...change out the paper and create another theme design. LMK what you think - comment below! Oh, btw I have a P.S. note that you should take a look at too...it's after my Pinterest image ;)

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Watermelon Day!

PinkFresh Studio DEC23 Challenge: Layered Warmest Wishes Snowflake Card

Hi, friends! I recently purchased the Folk Snowflake set which I fell in love with. It includes the Folk Snowflake Clear Stamp Set, its coordinating die set, and its layering stencil sheets. AND PinkFresh Studio posted their December monthly challenge...this is my first time to participate!

When I saw this design, I knew I wanted to pair it with the soft blue sweater patterned paper that I've been keeping for a special project - this one! LOL!

First I stamped, die-cut, and ink stenciled to create one muted color snowflake shape. It was so easy to do. I did this twice as I wanted to cut one and layer one on top of a whole snowflake shape.

To highlight and stand out the snowflake, I die-cut with the Folk Snowflake Die in the gold mirror cardstock and then cut it in half to peek behind the focal point.

Using the E-Z Dots® Repositionable Refillable Dispenser, I adhered the gold mirror cardstock behind the snowflake. I use this adhesive because the placement might need repositioning many times...which it did! LOL!

For the second snowflake, I trimmed off the tips and then outlined the edges with a black marker to highlight the shape. Then add a small 3D Foam Circle White in the center back and secure it on top of the main snowflake shape.

After shaping the second snowflake, I centered it on top of the larger snowflake and lastly, I covered a combination of 3D Foam Circles White Mix and Crafty Foam Tape in Black 108ft. on the back of the large snowflake. I love the subtle lift of the Crafty Foam Tape because of its subtle 1/32" height (half of 1/16" that is in the Crafty Foam Tape 54ft. Set it aside. Let's work on the card layers!

I am using a pearl shimmer cardstock to create a side-fold A2-sized (4.25 x 5.5-inch) card base. For extra shine, I trimmed the gold mirror cardstock to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8-inch. I found the perfect patterned paper for the card front, a soft blue sweater design which was cut to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8-inch.

Stamp sentiment on a 4 1/8 x 1-inch strip of vellum. Using the layered snowflake to determine placement, I adhered the sentiment toward the bottom of the card front with the E-Z Runner® Permanent Fine (aka the Vellum Runner). Then secure the layered snowflake above it.

For the finishing touch, add pearls, bubbles, and other sparkles with the Adhesive Dots Micro.

Here's the close up...what do you think? I LOVE how this turned out!

Christmas Sentiment Tree Card

Hello! I've got a fun idea of creating a holiday tree full of Christmas sentiment strips! Emily Moore Designs generously created three sheets of Christmas Sayings (FREE DOWNLOADABLE) sentiments and made them into free downloads for friends to use. It also coordinates with her Card Sentiment Dies :) Thank You, Emily!!

The same day that I downloaded them, I went out for a Chinese lunch with hubby, and guess what was my fortune cookie message ("You will soon receive an (un)usual gift freely given. Accept!")...LOL!! It's a sign!

This is the card I created...what do you think? I loved how it turned out :)

After all the sentiments were die-cut into strips and squares from her Card Sentiment Dies, gather up the slimline card base in white cardstock and the front card panel cut to fit the base. How? Just trim the purple and white speckle patterned paper from the A2 Card Base Paper Pack to 4.25 x 8.5-inch. Adhere with the E-Z Dot® Repositionable adhesive. I love using this adhesive - it's forgiving. Just peel the panel off and reposition!

Create a long triangle template from copy paper to fit the card, and adhere it with the E-Z Dot® Repositionable to the pink/purple marble patterned paper from the A2 Card Base Paper Pack. Use a paper trimmer to cut the triangle shape out because I can't cut a straight line! LOL! With the same adhesive, center the triangle on the card front.

Using the cut triangle as the base, add the sentiment strips in the desired design and secure with the E-Z Dot® Repositionable.

Add the last touches of gems with the Adhesive Dots Micro and foil the 3D Foam Stars with the silver sheet from the Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets in Celebrate. Remove the liner place the foil (color side facing you) and rub to transfer the color to the stars. Reapply the foil in missed areas.

And it's done! I hope you take advantage of Emily's generous gift, the Christmas Sayings (FREE DOWNLOADABLE) sentiments, and share with her your creation! Here's to a wonderful holiday season!

Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter 2023: Warm Hugs & Hot Cocoa Card

The Coffee Lovers Community is having its Fall/Winter 2023 event and I thought I would dust off my blog to join the fun! Using the Wilderness Collection by KNC Essentials, I created a sweet and whimsy look.

Warm Hugs & Hot Cocoa Card Layers

Fold in half an 8.5 x 5.5-inch white cardstock to a side-fold card base. Cut a piece of 4.25 x 5.5-inch patterned paper to cover the card base and adhere with the E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser. Die-cut a patterned paper with the Gift Card Holder Die. This will be the card panel.

Card Panel Breakdown

Cut a 3 x 4-inch cut apart Warm Hug to 2.25 x 3.5-inch to fit into the Gift Card Holder. Diagonally cut another 3 x 4-inch cut apart and trim off until it fits behind the Warm Hugs cut apart. Secure all with the E-Z Dots® Repositionable Refillable Dispenser. It's perfect for shifting and determining placement on the card panel.

Embellish the Card Panel

Adhere the bubbles, sequins, and other elements on the card panel with the Adhesive Dots Mini.

Finishing Off

Pop up the card panel to the card base with the Crafty Foam Tape in Black 108ft. I love the subtle lift this tape has with its 1/32" height (half of 1/16" that is in the Crafty Foam Tape 54ft.).

Take another look at your cut apart papers and see if you can create a layered card like mine. I hope you enjoyed my photo tutorial! Wanna join in? Click: Fall/Winter 2023 event.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter 2022: Choose JOY Holiday Card

The Coffee Lovers Community is having its Fall/Winter 2022 event and I thought I would jump in on the fun! Using mostly Distress Oxide in Salvaged Patina and Flamingo Pink with the Dots Stencil, I created a holiday card with a whimsy touch!

**I receive products from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® and Kraft n Creativity for use in my projects. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience and by doing so I can share what I personally love to use.**

Choose JOY Holiday Card Panel

Cut a 3.75 x 5-inch white card panel and stencil the Dots Stencil for a dotted background with Distress Oxide Ink in Salvaged Patina. Let dry. On the upper left corner and lower right corner, add a combination of  Adhesive Dots Mini and Micro. Cover with teal glitter, press to secure, and tap off excess.

With the 4 x 5.25-inch pink cardstock, ink its edges with Distress Oxide Ink in Kitsch Flamingo. Adhere the panels together with the E-Z Runner® Grand Ultra Strong adhesive.

Embellish the Mug

Die-cut the mug, its insert, candy cane, its insert, and marshmallow shapes from white cardstock. Ink and shade the mug with Distress Oxide Ink in Salvaged Patina. The white cardstock was inked with Distress Oxide Ink in Kitsch Flamingo, and Frayed Burlap before die-cutting the candy cane and mug insert, respectively.

Place the 3D Foam Snowflake onto the mug. Remove the top liner, cover with teal glitter, press to secure, and tap off the excess. So pretty!

Die-cut marshmallows in a combination of white cardstock, vellum, and 3D Foam Creative Sheets. Adhere the vellum shape to the top of the white cardstock shape. Cover white glitter on top of the foam shape, using the same glitter steps as the 3D Snowflake.

Assemble the mug pieces, and place the assembled mug on the card panel with a combination of the E-Z Runner® Grand Ultra Strong adhesive and the Dual Tip Glue Pen (for candy cane and mug handle).

Choose JOY Everyday Sentiment

Stamp the sentiment on pink cardstock with black ink. Cut it into a dual ribbon tail strip, and ink the edges with Distress Oxide Ink in Kitsch Flamingo. Then secure it on the card front with 3D Foam Strips.

I had such a wonderful time playing with this new die set inspired by all the items I had in my stash. What a fun start to my holiday cardmaking! Hope you enjoyed my process. Wanna join in? Click: Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter 2022 Event!

Have a great week!

Amazing Paper Grace March 2022 Die of the Month Blog Hop Get Well Soon Card Ensemble

I love the shape of this month's set that inspired me to do a shaped card, along with an open box full of tea. It makes for a sweet pick-me-up gift for someone who is not feeling well. Do you think it will work? I sure hope so!

My creations were created today with dies provided by Amazing Paper Grace.

There are 12 dies included in the Bella Ovalette.

My Projects for Today's Hop: Get Well Soon Shaped Card

First, I die-cut two of the largest outline shape in white cardstock and patterned paper. By scoring an inch from the top, I created a hinge on the back of the white cardstock shape. Simply add adhesive to that top scored area and married the two pieces together to make the top-fold shaped card base. The patterned paper side is the front card base.

After nesting the largest outline and its insert dies together, I die-cut with white cardstock. Add to the card front. Next, I die-cut the rectangle shape and then nested the rectangle shape with its insert die to cut all in white cardstock. Adhere all those pieces together to create the card centerpiece and then pop up the embellished rectangle with Crafty Foam Tape to the card front.

To finish the card front, die-cut the accent die in patterned paper, and center on the card front. Lastly, die-cut all the flowers and leaves in a combination of white, yellow, light, and pale green cardstock. Assemble the flowers as desired and place pearls in the centers. Stamp a sentiment from the SDS-169 Just a Note Sentiments & Tag Clear Stamp & Die Set in vellum, cut into a strip, and add in the flower clusters. Add pearls on the card front to finish.

Sending You Hugs Open Tea Box

Die-cut two rectangle shapes in white cardstock. Nest the rectangle outline die with its insert die in patterned paper to create the box front. Adhere together with one of the white rectangle shapes. Then die-cut the accent piece in white cardstock and center on the box front. Create your box base in white cardstock and assemble.

Now the fun part...embellishing! Die-cut all the flowers and leaves in a combination of white, yellow, light, and pale green cardstock. Assemble the flowers as desired and place pearls in the centers. Stamp a sentiment from the SDS-169 Just a Note Sentiments & Tag Clear Stamp & Die Set in vellum, cut into a strip, and add in the flower clusters. Add pearls on the card front to finish.
