PinkFresh Studio DEC23 Challenge: Layered Warmest Wishes Snowflake Card

Hi, friends! I recently purchased the Folk Snowflake set which I fell in love with. It includes the Folk Snowflake Clear Stamp Set, its coordinating die set, and its layering stencil sheets. AND PinkFresh Studio posted their December monthly challenge...this is my first time to participate!

When I saw this design, I knew I wanted to pair it with the soft blue sweater patterned paper that I've been keeping for a special project - this one! LOL!

First I stamped, die-cut, and ink stenciled to create one muted color snowflake shape. It was so easy to do. I did this twice as I wanted to cut one and layer one on top of a whole snowflake shape.

To highlight and stand out the snowflake, I die-cut with the Folk Snowflake Die in the gold mirror cardstock and then cut it in half to peek behind the focal point.

Using the E-Z Dots® Repositionable Refillable Dispenser, I adhered the gold mirror cardstock behind the snowflake. I use this adhesive because the placement might need repositioning many times...which it did! LOL!

For the second snowflake, I trimmed off the tips and then outlined the edges with a black marker to highlight the shape. Then add a small 3D Foam Circle White in the center back and secure it on top of the main snowflake shape.

After shaping the second snowflake, I centered it on top of the larger snowflake and lastly, I covered a combination of 3D Foam Circles White Mix and Crafty Foam Tape in Black 108ft. on the back of the large snowflake. I love the subtle lift of the Crafty Foam Tape because of its subtle 1/32" height (half of 1/16" that is in the Crafty Foam Tape 54ft. Set it aside. Let's work on the card layers!

I am using a pearl shimmer cardstock to create a side-fold A2-sized (4.25 x 5.5-inch) card base. For extra shine, I trimmed the gold mirror cardstock to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8-inch. I found the perfect patterned paper for the card front, a soft blue sweater design which was cut to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8-inch.

Stamp sentiment on a 4 1/8 x 1-inch strip of vellum. Using the layered snowflake to determine placement, I adhered the sentiment toward the bottom of the card front with the E-Z Runner® Permanent Fine (aka the Vellum Runner). Then secure the layered snowflake above it.

For the finishing touch, add pearls, bubbles, and other sparkles with the Adhesive Dots Micro.

Here's the close up...what do you think? I LOVE how this turned out!

Amazing Paper Grace: Garden of Gwen Scrapbook Layout

Hello! I have a wonderful layout to share with you. My sweet friend is celebrating her first Mother's Day with her adorable little girl. What great timing that I create this scrapbook page for her! When I saw this Mini 3D Vignette Garden GateDie of the Month from Amazing Paper Grace by Becca Feeken. I knew what I wanted to create. I am so excited to share with you, Garden of Gwen!

Becca Feeken with Amazing Paper Grace sent me this wonderful die set to create my scrapbook page - love it! Photo credit to Ken Berry (aka grandpa) and child release permission by mom (Ally Ward).

Garden of Gwen Scrapbook Page Base

I wanted a cloud edge on the top of my page but knew I needed to support my patterned papers from behind. Recently I purchased a pack of 12 x 12 acetate sheets so I used one as the base. Next, I fussy cut two patterned papers (Bubbly Paper Side B + that would fit my garden theme.

For the second patterned paper, I drew a bottom cloud edge across the paper and then cut it out. Then I applied Crafty Foam Tape 108ft. in white. The height on this tape is 1mm (a lower profile than your regular foam squares). Remember, this has to fit into a scrapbook album. LOL!

With the first patterned paper secured about 0.25 inches above the bottom edge of the acetate with the E-Z Runner Ultra, I placed the cloud border on top. Make sure the top edge is as close to the top of the acetate as possible. The page base is done!

The Garden Gate

There are many ways to use this Mini 3D Vignette Garden Gate. I used mine as a border across the page. The gate base, its insert, and the arch element were used for the border. Then the flowers and foilage pieces were cut for accents.

Cut four of the gate base, its insert, and one arch with cream cardstock and attach together with the E-Z Runner Ultra. Place the border to the bottom edge of the layout with the E-Z Dots Permanent. I used this runner as it hits the areas of the border and leaves no film between the die cut spaces. Trim excess off.

Design Details

For the bottom edge, I used the grass that I fussy cut from the first patterned paper which I lifted up with Crafty Foam Tape 108ft in White. The cute sign was lifted up with 3D Foam Strips.

The arch needed some flowers - it is a garden, after all. LOL! I cut some foliage from light sage cardstock and flowers from various scraps of patterned papers in purple and pink. For the foliage, I used Adhesive Sheets because they are intricate and wanted edge-to-edge coverage.

The flowers were randomly placed and in clusters with a combination of Adhesive Dots Micro and 3D Foam Square Micro. Rhinestones were flower centers and for sparkle.

A close up...

One cloud was hand cut and inked on the edges with Stormy Sky ink for added dimension using the Crafty Foam Tape 108ft in White.

I die-cut letter to spell out GWEN in vellum, and using the same ink, I edged around it for a subtle outline. Looks like clouds - love it! Secure the letters with the E-Z Runner Permanent Fine...perfect for adhering vellum.

Next, I added some foliage and flowers...a cute touch!

Add a picture of the owner of this lovely garden and done!

StencilGirl: Woodland Mushroom Canvas

Hello Friends! A wonderful mixed media artist friend, Tina Walker, called out to maker friends who would be interested in contributing to her article over at StencilGirl. I've been a fan of StencilGirl for years! So it was a no-brainer for me. LOL!

She asked each of us who is my favorite designer over at StencilGirl. Again, that was easy for me! Debi Adams came to mind. I have been a fan of her style for a VERY long time even before StencilGirl! Her projects just make me smile...the colors, the style...she just hits all the feels with me. So inspiring! You can find her StencilGirl stencils here, click Stencils Designed by Debi Adams.

**I receive products from Faber-Castell, Asuka Studio by Memory Place Japan, and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® for use in my projects. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience and doing so I can share what I personally love to use.**

Making the Background

Using a 2.5 x 3.5-inch canvas and white modeling paste, I stenciled the Tall Skinny Mushrooms Stencil by Debi Adams to create my textured background. Let dry.

To color the background, I used a combination of Watermelon, Lavender, Lemon, and Peach Gelatos. With a baby wipe, I spread the colors on the canvas until I got my desired look.

Creating the Woodland Scene

In my stash, I had this adorable woodland-themed patterned paper and was inspired by the stencil and paper to create my Woodland Mushroom Canvas! So I fussy cut the scene as much as I could. I had other papers from the collection to fussy cut parts to lift up for a dimensional look.

Creating & Coloring Gauze Texture

I wanted to create a unique texture to break up the patterned paper and the canvas. After looking in my piles of stuff, I found leftovers from another project that used some gauze material. So why not? LOL! Using the patterned paper as a guide, I cut a few pieces of gauze to use.

I colored the gauze with the same Gelatos color combination as my background and water. Then I air dried the pieces. I love how it turned out!

Assembling the Woodland Scene

To secure the gauze to the patterned paper, I used Premium Double-Sided Tape in 1/4-inch.

Next, secure and lift the patterned paper and gauze with Crafty Foam Tape 108ft to the canvas.

The little pieces were also lifted and adhered to the scene with Crafty Foam Tape 108ft.

After it was all assembled, this is what the scene looks like. CUTE~!!!

Flower Custer Making

Die-cut flowers and leaf stem with white cardstock. Color using the same combination of Gelatos that was used in the background. Then assemble the flower with a pink brad and crinkle it for a dimensional look.

Fussy cut a wreath design and cut it in half. Use one of the halves and adhere with the Dual Tip Glue Pen on the top edge of the canvas. This will be the base of the cluster.

Cut a piece of gauze to fit behind the flower as an accent and adhere with an Adhesive Dot Medium to the flower. Set aside.

With a combination of Adhesive Dots Medium and the Dual Tip Glue Pen, start building the flower cluster.

Lastly, add the flower in the middle to complete the Woodland Mushroom Canvas.

I hope you enjoyed this Woodland Mushroom Canvas. If you create a mixed media canvas, try this idea of mixing stenciling and patterned papers to use up your stash!

Would love it if you follow me on the blog or my ILscraps Instagram!
