Michaels Stores Spring Time in Paris Contest: Petite Monarch Crown

Michaels Store is having a Spring Time in Paris Contest and I thought I would give it a try! I worked on this crown off and on for the last couple of weeks...always wanted to play with my A Gilded Life die templates and what a perfect motivator! LOL! This collection and the Paris I envisioned reminds me of elegant European luxury!

What do you think? I was inspired by the artwork using the same dies from Spellbinders® 2015 Winter Catalog...theirs is more elegant, mine is more girly? LOL!! Let me show you how I created this.

Build the Crown Base:

First, cut/emboss Imperial Border Die three times with Gold Textured Cardstock, using the Artisan X-Plorer™ Machine. Adhere the ends of three die cuts using DODZ™ Small to form a ring. Set aside.

Cut/emboss Petite Monarch Die six times with Gold Mirror Cardstock. Adhere the ends of three die cuts using DODZ™ Small to form a ring. Set aside the other three die cuts.

Using Home & Hobby by 3L® Premium Double-Sided Tape ⅛" (coming soon!), adhere the Petite Monarch ring on top of the Imperial Border ring to create a two-tier crown base.

Decorate the Bottom Crown Base:

Fold in half the ½" width white organza ribbon (I used about 18" in length) and thread through the bottom base of the crown. Then I threaded 1/4" width Lavender ribbon on top of the organza ribbon. Tie ends. Add medium purple rhinestones on each of the embossed circle designs.

Decorate the Top Crown Base:

Behind the high peak of the crown, I adhered a leaf trinket pin, using the DODZ™ Small on top and DODZ™ Medium in middle. Cover the top circle opening of the high peak with a large purple rhinestone (see image). Repeat until all are decorated. Using gold glitter paste, rub over white flower and let dry. Adhere it with DODZ™ 3D to cover the pin in opening at bottom. (see image). Repeat until all are decorated. Add clear rhinestones to the smaller peak crown design. Repeat until all are decorated. Cover the back side of the three Petite Monarch die cuts with Adhesive Sheets - 6 x 12" and place on the inside of the crown. This will finish the crown, making it look like metal verses paper.

Embellishment:

Add bow and ribbon tails to back and secure with DODZ™ 3D. Trim any excess. Add beads to ends of ribbon tails. Add purple rhinestones to ½" button and secure to the center of bow with DODZ™ 3D.

And there you have it! Ready to wear for a sweet 16 birthday girl, a bride-to-be or just because! LOL!

Applique Flower & Vintage Sentiment Tags Clear Stamps

Today, I am introducing JustRite® PaperCraft’s April 2014 Release – Appliqué Flower & Vintage Sentiment Tags Clear Stamps using Spellbinders® 5 x 7" Card Creator die templates to create a card.

This is also my first time in using a SVG File, SVG Appliqué Flower & Vintage Sentiment Tags, that can be used in most electronic cutting machines. I used my Silhouette™ machine that I had since 2009! and it worked well! You will find all of JustRite's SVG Digital Cut File Download HERE. There are two cut files - Offset (a white border around the stamped image - see my flower and leaf) and Exact (no white border - see my flower stem). If you are using a Silhouette machine, you will need the Studio Designer Software available for now at Silhouette America.

After cutting my flower pieces, I colored with Spectrum Noir™ markers - love how the colors blend so well :)

Next I cut and embossed with my die templates to create beautiful layers of die cuts for the card front.

To give your patterned paper die cut a subtle pop of color, I edged with my marker.

JustRIte: Stitched Flower Vintage Tags Clear Stamps

Today, I am introducing JustRite® PaperCraft’s March 2014 Release – Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Clear Stamps to create a 12 x 12" scrapbook page.

I was cleaning the basement when I came across this picture of my two boys when they were CUTE! Now they're just teenagers - HA! Needless to say, my basement is still a mess but I have a wonderful scrapbook page (BIG GRIN)! LOL!!

I stamped two different flower images on patterned papers and cardstock. JustRite has SVG Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Digital Cut Download for this set if you have an electronic cutting machine. Click to see more details. Since I don't have a machine yet, I fussy cut mine and adhered with a combination of Dodz and 3D Foam Squares. The centers were embellished with buttons - LOVE it!

For the top left edge accent, I stamped a Vintage Tag, cut/embossed with Vintage Tag Dies and folded in half to adhere to the edge. Add letter stickers, S5-143 Jewel Flowers and Flourishes Butterfly (antenna) die and sequins.

I loved that JustRite included a "movement" line stamp for the butterfly = PERFECT :)

I used the words "Dreams" and "Wishes" from the set to create the title on top of a sanded S5-194 Pearl Effects die cut with sequins.

Hazel & Ruby: Girly Door Hanger

There's a contest that new company, Hazel & Ruby is holding called Showcase Your Talent! Well, who could resist?! I had their Stencil-Mask sets and Chalk It Up Collection on hand so I gave it a try. This is what I came up with...A Girly Door Hanger! Perfect for any girl's room - just personalize with your little girl's initials :)

I started by tracing the door hanger with a pencil on the Rolling Floral patterned paper.

After I adhered the paper to the hanger, I sanded with a fine grade sandpaper for a perfect edge.

Forgot to take the picture of my first coat of paint but you can see underneath (CLICK on IMAGE to enlarge) the sun and capital "H". I used Everyday Shapes Stencil Mask (Sun) and Broadside Alpha 2.5" Stencil-Mask (H) for my project. I left those pieces on and put the Crown, Borders (Everyday Shapes Stencil-Mask) and Brackets (Blindside Alpha 1.75" Stencil-Mask) on top and painted with white paint. Let dry.

I took off all the stencil mask pieces and cleaned them off with a baby wipe - even the two layered paint pieces came off with no problem :) Using the Faber Castell® Design Memory Craft® Stamper's Big Brush Magenta Pen, I outlined the sun and "H".

To finish, I added my rolled Spellbinders® Spiral Blossom One and Foliage die cuts. Then some bling, heart shaped paper clips, trinket pin and eyelets (snip off the fasteners in the back) were placed for embellishments.

JustRite: Fashion Vintage Labels Six Cling Stamps

These are the steps I took to create a shaped card that won't flatten or have a straight edge at the top. This is my favorite way of creating these wonderful cards!

I used several combinations of die templates to complete my card front. To make my flower smaller, I cut a part of the petals off. Notice I "locked" S4-387 Decorative Labels Twenty-Two and Vintage Labels Five Dies die cuts together - love that they mix and match!

JustRite: JUNE 2013 Release - Day 2

Today JustRite® Papercraft is introducing two sets (Get Well Labels Twenty and Chicken Soup Labels Four). I showcased the Get Well Labels Twenty set with coordinating S5-026 Labels Twenty die templates to create a 5 x 7" card in a striking color combination of black, white and blue accents. I also used another June release as a sneak peek (Leafy Background Stamp) mixed in the background with a little chalkboard look to it. Loved how it turned out :)

Art Anthology: Spring Fling

I am excited to be featured in Art Anthology's Blog - Spring Fling Scrapbook Page by Margie Higuchi post!! When I was at the 2013 Winter CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) trade show, I met up with friends (Stayce DeWid & Jen Starr) at Art Anthology Inc.! Do you know about this new company?

With samples in tow, I went back home and started to play. Goodness!! These products are amazing~!! I created a scrapbook page...

There are SO MANY techniques in this page = FUN~!!

PAINTING: I die cut tissue paper with Spellbinders® Blossom Five dies and then painted them with Cotton Candy Velvet Paint, Vegas Gold and Imperial Sorbet Paints. After they dried, I layered them to create colorful blossoms.

PAINTING OUT OF THE BOX: As dimensional paints, I wanted to find out how they would do if I painted them on my non-stick craft sheet. So I used Cotton Candy Velvet Paint and Honolulu Blue Sorbet Paint. I did about three coats with drying time between.

What great results! They dried to what is similar to vinyl sheets but with wonderful color and sparkle! I cut/embossed with Spellbinders Shapeabilities® Cherry Blossoms and Media Mixàge™ Shields One dies.
