InkyStamper: Find My Happy Place Card

Out of all the Ralph and Rosie series stamps, Paper Airplane Stamp and Die set speaks to me the most. Before the pandemic, I traveled a lot. So this set would be perfect to document my travels and make cards for other traveling friends. Don't you love this card?

**I receive products from InkyStamper and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® for use in my projects. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience and doing so I can share what I personally love to use.**

Happy Place Card Panels

Cut the map paper to 3.75 x 5-inches, and 4 x 5.25-inches for the light khaki cardstock. Ink both papers' edges with blue ink to tie into the map colors.

Next, adhere the panels together. The map paper was adhered with E-Z Runner Grand Ultra Strong to the khaki cardstock. Then the layered panel was lifted and secured to the Kraft A2 (4.25 x 5.5-inches) Size card base with Crafty Foam Tape.

Stamping Ralph

Stamp Ralph on his paper airplane onto white cardstock. I like to stamp two or three of the image and keep the extras in the packaging for future use. I also stamped two small paper airplanes with blue ink. Cut both with their coordinating die.

On Kraft cardstock, I stamped and die-cut Ralph on his paper airplane. Then I hand cut Ralph out of the image and adhered the kraft airplane to the white die cut. Color Ralph with watercolor pencils.

For the sentiment, I wanted to use both blue and black ink so I stamped in blue first. Then I purposely double stamp with the black ink. Again, I wanted to tie in the blue from the map pattern. I bookend the paper airplane die cuts on each side.

I hope you enjoyed my Find My Happy Place Card tutorial! Thanks for stopping by!

FaveCrafts: Best Blogger 2015 Contest

Hey all! Starting from today until March 10 2015, FaveCrafts/Prime Publishing is hosting a Best Blogger Craft 2015 Contest for those of us who attended their Blogger Networking Event at the Winter CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) Trade Show last month in Anaheim, CA.

I NEED YOUR HELP: if you like my project (and I hope you do! lol!), please VOTE for Margie Higuchi: Beautiful Moments Chalkboard Tray DIY Wall Decor. I hope you SHARE with friends and encourage them to join in on the fun - it would mean so much :) THANK YOU~!!

The contest was to use products from the sponsors (thank you!) to create project(s) that inspired you. I had one of those throw away silver trays which I picked out of the trash - someone spray painted a shinny black color in the center and I guess they didn't like it. BUT it spoke to ME! LOL!

At the CHA Bloggers Event, I met so many interesting bloggers in the industry as well as the fabulous manufacturers who were the sponsor of a generous swag BOX (thank goodness it was delivered - otherwise, need another suitcase!).

A couple of pictures taken at the event (I forgot my camera...GRRR!) but talented Maria Del Pinto let me share these pictures she took - thank you, Maria!

L to R: Sherry Cheever, Bunny Vance & ME!

ME & the fabulous Amy. from Fairfield World - LOVE her style!

Thank you always for stopping by my blog - don't forget to vote!

This throw away silver tray was found literally in the trash…someone had sprayed a shiny black paint finish on it and didn’t want it. Well, this DIYer did! LOL!!

I painted the center with Plaid FolkArt Home Décor Chalkboard Rich Black Ultra Mat Paint to give it life, along with accents of rick rack trim and flowers. Do a little chalkboard lettering and this piece is seriously rescued from trash to treasure! I plan on hanging it on my craft room wall.

Apply FolkArt Home Décor Chalk Rich Black in the center of tray. Paint three coats with dry time in between coats. Love the result as it has an ultra matte finish to it - beautiful!

While waiting for paint to dry, create Little B’s Pull Flower Roses as directed on package. Make two of each color. Set aside.

Once the last coat of chalkboard paint is dried, edge the painted area with ¼” Baby Rick Rack and Aleene’s® Always Ready Tacky Glue Turbo. Let dry.

On the computer create a sentiment to fit the center of tray and print out. I also drew some accents around the words. Chalk over the back of the copy paper of sentiment with white chalk. Place chalked side down on to the tray and beginning tracing the words. The white chalk will transfer to the painted area. Use white marker to finish the sentiment.

Cut and emboss Foliage set Die #6 (the smallest size die is #1) with No. 11 Green cardstock for a total of six die cuts. These will be placed behind the Pull Rose Flowers for accent.

Place a cluster of three Pull Flower Roses (pink, red and yellow) and adhere with Dodz™ XL on the upper left edge of tray. Repeat another cluster of roses to the lower right edge. I ended up using two (keep the other for another project). Add in leaf die cuts - the upper left corner, double up the die cuts and for dimension, use 3D Foam Squares, White Small.

It’s ready to display either by easel or attaching a wall hook in the back of tray to hang. Here's another look at the DIY Chalkboard Tray...

Mixed Media Family Canvas Tutorial

I created a mixed media canvas themed around my family and maybe this is something for you to try and give as a gift. Using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® products, I secured the family photo to the die cut mat and "popped" up it for dimension. Let's get started!

For the background, I used Faber Castell® Design Memory Craft® Chalkboard Paint and Gelato® colors. I love how the black contrasts against the colors :) By using the water mister and baby wipes, I was able to blend into a wonderful background.

The butterfly stencil from StencilGirl Products was my inspiration for the canvas. Isn't the design amazing and designed by my uber talented friend, Maria McGuire! I used E-Z Runner® Repositionable Dots to secure the stencil to the canvas. When you're done, just rub off the dots.

I cut/embossed Labels Thirty-Nine Decorative Accents die with thin chipboard to use as an anchor for the other side of my dark butterfly. Next paint the entire piece with Chalkboard paint.

Metallic colors are in trend so I edged with Design Memory Craft® Champagne Gold Gelato® to my photo and canvas for a subtle highlight. Next I melted thin slivers of the color with water using my Palette knife on wax paper, and flicked with a watercolor brush to create splatters.

After assembling everything, I placed enamel dots and sequins with Dodz™ Small. Lastly, I hand wrote "FAMILY - we don't have our act together but together, we have it all!" LOVE it! LOL! Another look at the finished canvas...

Hazel & Ruby: You're The Best Gift Bag

Greetings, Hazel and Ruby friends! I am sharing how to dress up those gift bags, using Hazel & Ruby and Kiwi Lane Designs products.

First I covered the front with Gesso as a primer which gives it teeth to anything I layer on top.

While the Gesso was drying, I trimmed Wrap It Up, Statement Floral paper to fit the front. Using Gel Medium, I adhered the paper on the front of bag and sealed it on top with another layer of Gel Medium.

Next I placed "You're The Best" from Stencil-Mask, Greetings Words set.

Paint over the front with white acrylic paint. I painted two light coats (dry time in between coats) to show the pattern. While tacky, I carefully pulled the letters off the bag and put them back on their liner. Using a baby wipe, just wiped clean to be re-used again. LOVE IT!

To create the border at the top and bottom, I used Kiwi Lane Designs' Chestnut Drive border set by tracing the back of the Wrap It Up, Statement Floral paper with a pencil. After cutting, I edged them with white acrylic paint for definition. Next I adhered the borders on the bag and trimmed off the excess.

Taking one of the flowers template from the Floral accessory set, I created a flower embellie for the bag as an accent piece. I traced the back of Wrap It Up, Newsprint Floral paper and white cardstock (for support). After cutting them out and adhering together, I added gold sequins from Sequin Tubes, Sparkle & Shine in its center.

For detailing, I outlined around the letters, border edges and flower embellie with my Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Stamper's Big Brush Light Turquoise pen. It gives it a subtle finish.

Added a few more sequins and a butterfly from Bitty Butterflies, Oh So Sky set and it's ready to give away! Here's a second look...
