Celebrate Scrapbook Page Step Outs

I cut a combination of patterned papers, origami papers, and a piece of white cardstock that I wrapped the washi tape around to create another patterned layer. To embellish the page, I grabbed a couple of ephemera pieces and a bonus overlay frame.

Adhere all the layers with E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser onto the page.

Then on the overlay frame, I applied the E-Z Runner Micro - it's perfect for narrow areas. Lightly place on top of the layered mat as a picture will be tucked behind it.

Next die-cut an intricate doily shape in white cardstock twice. Cut one in half and leave the other whole.

Run the E-Z Runner Grand Permanent Dots behind each. When I forget to use the Adhesive Sheet, I apply the permanent dot adhesive as it will hit only the die cut shape so it's easy to adhere.

Tuck the whole shape behind the layered mat on the upper right corner. Place the half shape on the lower-left corner to layer the ephemera with.

Stamp Celebrate from the clear stamp set in the kit on a scrap piece of Time to Celebrate 05 paper. Cut into a banner strip with a ribbon tail on it. Adhere it below the layered mat and by the half doily shape.

Now for the details. After adhere the rose bouquet ephemera, lift and adhere the camera ephemera with scraps of 3D Foam Circles (no waste! lol!). I added some twine behind it before adhering.

I randomly added sequins around the page with Adhesive Dots Small.

Like the sequins, I place 3D Foam Stars and foiled them. This is so easy to do! Just take off the top liner, place the foil color side up over the exposed adhesive and rub. Peel it off to get these wonderful foiled stars.

Lastly, I randomly added a combination of light purple, light green, and clear sparkly bubbles.

Fairfield: No-Sew Puffy Owl Banner in Celebration of 80 Years!

Fairfield is celebrating its 80th year in 2020. To commemorate, they are hosting 80 Days of Poly-Fil Projects! So cool! They've invited me and fellow designers/bloggers/DIYers to create projects featuring their popular Poly-Fil® products.

**I receive products from Fairfield Processing Corp., Spellbinders® Paper Arts, and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® for use in my projects. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience and doing so I can share what I personally love to use.**

Although I do not sew, I can whip up a mean project with Poly-Fil®! LOL! Combining my paper crafting passion, I accepted the challenge and came up with a No-Sew Puffy Owl Banner. I love how it turned out - don't you? Let me show you how to create one.

Puffy Owl Step Outs

For the owl base, die-cut four owl shapes from cardstock and felt with the Who's There Steel Rule Die.

Designer Tip: When die-cutting soft felt, I cut with a sheet of printer paper. By doing this, I find I get a cleaner cut. I did this the first time and then switched to black cardstock which I used for the back of my banner. Kills two birds (no pun intended - lol!) with one stone! :)

Apply on the back of the black cardstock owl shape with Adhesive Sheet. Make sure to burnish well with the round end of a bone folder to transfer the adhesive to the cardstock. Peel back the liner and take out the owl shape for the next step.

Next, apply Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/8" to the edge of the owl die cut over the adhesive sheet area.

Next, add a thin layer of Poly-Fil® on top of the adhesive sheet area. Then remove the Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/8".

Take the felt owl shape and stretch the material a little before placing it on the top of the owl cardstock. Press the edges together to create one shape. Trim any excess adhesive or filler. Repeat three more times to make your banner.

Banner Details

With the 3D Foam Creative Sheet Small in Black, die-cut letters (Gwen) from the Type-Oh Steel Rule Die.

Use the letter die cuts as a guide to determine placement and adhere the wings and feet pieces with Adhesive Lines (the wings) and Adhesive Dots Small (the feet).

Designer Tip: carefully heat up the adhesives to secure to felt (think glue gun). If aimed too long, the felt will shrink or deform (don't ask - lol!).

Then place the letter in the center of each owl shape. Remove the top liner and place a piece of foil on top with COLOR SIDE UP. Rub the foil with fingertips to transfer the foil. Reapply foil in missed areas.

Let's make the loops in the back to thread the twine through and display the banner. To achieve this, cut four 1.25 x 2-inch rectangles from black cardstock. Simply secure with the E-Z Runner Grand Ultra Strong adhesive.

To accent my twine, I had wood slices I wanted to add between each owl. After I placed a small 3D Foam Heart on each slice, on the back, I placed an Adhesive Dot 3D to secure to the twine. Covered it With a felt circle (part of the die set) so it won't scratch the wall.

There you have it! A puffy owl banner to display (in this case) in Gwen's room!

Kawaii Paper Goods: Washi Birthday Balloon Card

This Washi Birthday Balloon Card is part of the Kawaii Paper Goods Subscription Box Volume 2 Challenge! All the details are in my previous post, click: Celebrate Tea & Treat Holder post.

**I receive products from Spellbinders® Paper Arts, and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® for use in my projects. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience and doing so I can share what I personally love to use.**

Washi Birthday Balloon Card

Let's start with the layers. Cut a piece of 4 x 5.25-inch patterned paper and a piece of 4-1/8 x 5-3/8-inches purple cardstock. Adhere the patterned paper on top of the purple cardstock with E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser. My white cardstock card base is an A2 size (4.25 x 5.5-inch).

Die-cut a 3 x 3.5-inch balloon shape into the layered card panel. This will be the base of your focal design.

Using the washi tape, cover the balloon shape. Trim off the excess, leaving a little border. Wrap the excess border in the back to create a colorful balloon! Set aside.

Behind the layered panel, cover the entire back with Crafty Foam Tape. Then apply adhesive on the back of the balloon shape.

First, add the panel onto the card base and then add the balloon shape to complete the card front.

Now to add details. I made a bow and place it on the bottom of the balloon with an Adhesive Dot Medium. Add a few Sparkly Bubbles in Light Purple. Lastly, I added a sentiment banner from the Ephemera Pack. To pop it up, I stacked two layers of Crafty Foam Tape behind it and added it to the card.

I hope you enjoyed this project. Give it a try! If you haven't already, please follow me on the blog or my ILscraps Instagram.

InkyStamper: Felt Apple + Caterpillar Treat Bag

Sharing a fun felt apple treat bag that I've wanting to do. Going through the internet for a unique treat bag, I came upon DIY drawstring bags and worked out a no-sew version! Let me show you how!

**I receive products from InkyStamper and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® for use in my projects. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience and doing so I can share what I personally love to use.**

Felt Apple Treat Bag

Die-cut a circle shape with red felt. I used a 7-inch diameter circle. Designer's Tip: To support the felt while cutting, I add a sheet of copy paper underneath. If you don't have a big circle etched die, use a plate and trace around it before cutting.

To achieve this without a sewing machine. I took the following steps.

  1. Fold the circle in half.
  2. Fold in half again to create a quarter shape.
  3. With my Big Chomper on the small circle punch setting, punch about 1/2-inch from the edge and about 1-inch between each hole.
  4. Punch six holes (two of my holes are a little wonky - lol!).

So where you're done, open up the circle shape and you'll see all the holes punched. Trim any loose felt pieces.

Take a piece of 26-inch twine and wrap one of the ends with washi tape. This will be your "needle." Going back and forth, thread the twine through the holes until you reach the end. For the inside base of the bag, die-cut a 1 7/8-inch diameter circle out of scrap cardstock.

Before pulling the two ends of the twine together, make sure the ends are facing outside. The image above was the wrong way. As you pull the twine to cinch, add the circle shape inside, and before closing add small treats inside. Then close it by tieing it into a bow and set aside.

Embellishment Building

On a green cardstock, stamp the background square from the Caterpillar Stamp Set with black ink several times. For the leaf, I just draw a few and cut with scissors.

Slight stack the leaves with 3D Foam Squares in small size and set aside to make the stem.

Stamp the Let's Get a Bite and Apple images with black ink on a piece of white cardstock. I colored the apple with watercolors. Let dry and cut into a 4 1/4 x 1 1/4-inch strip with a fishtail end. Punch a hole and thread the twine to tie the bow.

Cut a piece of 1 1/4 x 3-inch light brown cardstock and roll it to make a stem. Secure with an Adhesive Line. Gently insert it on the top of the apple. Place an Adhesive Dot Medium to the leaves and add to the stem.

Lastly, add the sentiment to the back of the stem with an Adhesive Line and it's ready to give away!
