Happy Valentines Day!
I had these darn metal mailboxes from Target for a year. Never had a chance to do anything with them until now (well, at least one!)...a year later! LOL!! Well, better late than never, right?! I used TaDa Creative Studios' Festivus Collection (My Sweet Valentine paper) and Spellbinders Classic & Scalloped Hearts on its front. Loved how it turned out :)

We had Valentines Day dinner a day early since hubby has to work on Monday...unlike kids who are lucky to get off school for Presidents' Day. It was a good thing we went to Koreana Restauarant at 5:00 pm! Once we ordered, people started to pile into the place. Our clothes are in the wash today because of all the smoke from the BQ - all the BQ tables were full and were smoking up the place! They had to open the door because the exhaust fans couldn't catch up! LOL!! But boy, the food was GOOD!! YUMMY!!
SOooooo I would like to wish my friends and family a wonderful wonderful HEARTFUL day with each other...be good and be thankful for the love you receive and lovingly give! xoxoxoxo

Michele's Sketch Challenge
This is for you, Michele, in honor of your first sketch! LOL!
Here's my take on the sketch...totally different from your layout. All boy and I had this Teresa Collins Collection FOREVER so thanks for the kick in the butt!

This is my oldest (Taka) when he was in sixth grade with his friends at Wheaton. They have known each other since fourth grade (five years ago) and to this day, they still talk to each other via internet...even though we moved to another town. Matter of fact, they were over last month for a sleepover! LOL!!

14 Days of Valentine's Day Tags
At Scrapbook News and Review Magazine (SNR), each staff member gets a chance to show off their tag art. The theme? Well, Valentine's of course!
So I am doing one on an image I downloaded at Twisted Papers. I love their images :) With their image, I did a "new" favorite technique of layering the same image as many times as you want...my fellow crafter/artist, Sherry Cheever, showed me!
For more details, here's the thread with my tag and the "how to" steps!
Hope you enjoy it.
TAG YOU'RE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!

Happy Belated Everything!!
OY! I see I needed to update my blog...I've been updating Spellbinders' instead! LOL!
A week ago today I have officially two teenagers in the house! Yes, my baby had his thirteenth birthday so I made his favorite meals ... TONKATSU (Japanese breaded veal cutlet) and Macaroni & Cheese (all homemade and so easy - thanks to The Pioneer Woman!!!).
Then cake but we really don't have a whole cake. I decided a long time ago that each person will get their favorite cake slice ... it makes for a weird looking cake but I tired of the whining. You know kids, they change their mind like they change underwear! LOL! Sooo putting thirteen candles on a slice is a challenge. Instead I made a cake slice topper ... opposed to a cupcake topper.

Loved how this turned out ... the Nested Owl is new from Spellbinders™ and I also have the Labels Six and the Classic Scalloped Circle. All personalized thanks to JustRite Stampers! And whoooo (sorry, couldn't help it! LOL!) couldn't resist the google eyes to add just the right whismy! Happy belated birthday, Hiro!! xo
Another belated is news about TaDa Creative Studios' releases coming up next month! They usually exhibit at just the CHA-Summer Show so they will be releasing the rest on the blog so be on the look out! LOVE their sneak peeks:

I am really excited to see the rest of it! These ladies work so hard to design something different - great job!!
OK...it's getting late but wanted the chance to post an update!
Thanks for stopping by! xo

Love My Memories (Jpn SB Magazine)
I think I have mentioned a few times that I have been featured in this magazine. Love My Memories (aka "LoveMemo") is the first Japanese language magazine that is dedicated to scrapbooking and has been publishing for five years.
I am lucky be part of it...interviewed as TaDa Creative Studios' design team member and to feature my artwork for them in the magazine (a whole page and half! WOW!). The second time was covering LoveMemo's Issue #9 Release parties in Japan and the U.S. Cosmo Cricket was kind enough to provide the MnTs for the parties. It was a great success! The Chicago party was at my home and the theme was "Cupcakes and Coffee." Needless to say, I haven't baked any cupcakes since! LOL!!
Now I have been truly blessed and honored that Emi Kume (Founding Editor) has asked me to become a special reporter from the United States to cover (for now) new companies debuting at CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc. trade shows). So in Issue #11, I had the pleasure of writing up on two companies that caught my eye and interest...Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker LLC and Bella Blvd. Both are based in the Midwest and have some really fresh and cool designs.

So who will be the next companies I'll cover?! Hmmm....stay tuned! Special thanks to Nikki and Stephanie for giving me the trust and faith in writing their stories! Good luck to them on the upcoming CHA-Winter show!!

Smile!
These are items from TaDa Creative Studios (EIEIO Collection) in which I made a shadow box card...at least I think that's what it is called. LOL! The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday (Ali Edwards design - Simply You).

The temperature in Chicago on this Sunday morning is 0! YUK! So I pulled out something to smile about...how can you NOT RESIST this silly chicken (Ollie) ?! LOL
Have a good Sunday and make it a GOOD WEEK..we're hitting a heat wave sometime this week (near 40s)! WOOOHOOOO!!!

You wanna get MISTED?!
WHAT?! LOL!!
Most of you are familiar with Tattered Angels' Glimmer Mist and they are these beautiful and glimmery color sprays (so many colors too)! Matter of fact, I have a project that just got misted which you will see in my future blog post..promise! LOL!
Anyways, ever wanted to do more than just mist a piece? Maybe some masking? Or use as an impression on a layout (I used Glimmer Mist on a Tattered Angels' stencil and letterpressed to make this iron gate accent)?

Well, you can! They just came out with a blog just for that called Educator Blog and I, for one, cannot wait and learn! There's already a post and it's a beautiful project too. Take a look!

Happy New Year!
Ahhh, the year of the Tiger! I was born in the year of the Tiger and so was my husband....and my mother and my father. Oh my! LOL! I will have to look up the personality of people who were born in the year of Tiger. I will post about it later (after research of course! LOL!).
On to some crafty things....
For TaDa Creative Studios' blog, I made a New Year's card with their Twinkly Tidings Collection. It is one of my favorites because it has a shimmer in their paper that makes it so elegant - just love that!

And along with the theme of a new year, one must have a monthly planner. So I created this and it was featured in the Spellbinders' blog. The goal was to use as many die templates as possible. Actually it was my own goal and I wonder what the folks at Spellbinders think - Margie is crazy! Well, they probably knew that! I suggest not doing this all in one day straight...the next morning I woke up with a sore arm! LOL!!

Here's to a wonderful 2010 for everyone (raising my glass of water)!!

Christmas Happenings...
which isn't much in our household...there's only four of us! LOL!!
On Christmas Eve, we had a traditional style Japanese dinner - NABE! With another tradition, a Christmas Cake that sells in Japan during Christmas Eve. Now I never heard of this until I lived in Japan but it's common. The Japanese bakeries here in Chicago also offer it. So every year, we order one...to keep up with tradition! LOL!
Hmm….Christmas cake…how to explain…here’s one definition - It's common to eat Christmas cakes on Christmas Eve in Japan. Typical Japanese Christmas cakes are round sponge cakes with whipped cream and fruit toppings. Another link is HERE.
Here's a picture of our cake this year...

Then Christmas morning, the boys waited until we woke up around 9:00AM! I was up late wrapping gifts and cleaning up a little (COUGHdinningroom/scraproomCOUGH) so I slept in! Heehee!!
This picture is when we all first woke...don't we look lovely = NOT! I have to say that the boys got their haircuts today...couldn't take it anymore and dad had to get one too for his trip to Japan.

And this is how we spent Christmas....nice and quiet!

We hope that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas...enjoying each other and making some new memories to last a lifetime!

Merry Christmas!! xo

Happy Kwanzaa!
Today, it was my turn to post a blog on Spellbinders (Savvy Saturday). Did you know it was the start of Kwanzaa today? I was surfing through the internet and learned a lot about this holiday. The most common factor in Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa is FAMILY. Love it!
Hope you had a wonderful time with your family as we did. For us, the holidays are quiet as our families are overseas in Japan...we haven't been together (all together as a family) for 14 years! YIKES!! I miss it so as I keep telling friends - ENJOY EACH OTHER'S COMPANY!!! - and I mean it. Now you know why! LOL!!
Here's the project I made for Spellbinders today...

Later I hope to post some Christmas pictures!
Have a good & warm day...it's snowing like there's no tomorrow in Chicago! Beautiful but then again, I'm inside! LOL!!

Happy 15th...
birthday to my oldest son, Taka!!
Last night, we took him to his favorite restaurant, DARUMA (Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates IL). He was full and we were broke! LOL!!
When we got home, he was still eating?! OY! Teenage boys! It was fun to see him embarrassed as the staff sang the birthday song...they don't usually sing but they love to embarrass him!! Thanks, Thomas and friends xo!
This is a layout I did for Scrapbook News & Review Magazine a few months back. It's one of my favorites!

Pattern Paper: Cosmo Cricket
Chipboard Pcs: Cosmo Cricket
Letter Stickers: American Craft
Ink: Clearsnap
Stamp: LostCoast Stamps
Punch: EK Success
Misc: High School ID (from summer school)

For details on the steps taken to make this tag, click HERE! Hope you like it and do your own interpretation! Would love to see so send me your link in the comments!
To my friends who are celebrating the Festival of Lights, Happy Hanukkah!! xo

12 Days Of Christmas At Scrapbook News & Review (SNR) Magazine!
Welcome to Day Four of
The 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop!
I am thrilled to be a part of SNR's Blog Hop today! For my featured project, I'd like to showcase a kit club that I had SO MUCH FUN with - Mac Mae Kit. When I first received the kit, it was HUGE and the price point was one of the most affordable out there - $29.95 (shipping included). SNR did a review of Mac Mae Kit and I had contributed a few pieces for the article. BUT I still have SO MUCH left that I made a card "YOU ROCK" that I'd like to share. It's not exactly Christmas-themed but I liked how this turned out! LOL!

EDITED TO ADD...OK, I changed my mind and the sun came out! LOL! I had my Spellbinders™ S4-219 Nested Poinsettias set out...I have been neglecting her SO I made this holiday card with the die templates, Ranger Distressed Ink, Hero Arts word stamps and of course, the Mac Mae Kit!

Here are some of the other projects I created for the article...

To view the blog hop from the beginning and for the fourth day (tomorrow), please visit SNR's blog HERE!
I hope you get a chance to review SNR and if you like it, please subscribe. You won't get that many eye candy, inspiration, techniques and forum like SNR for each issue - not even the print magazines! AND you go GREEN, save those trees! LOL!!
Thanks for stopping!!

Thank-FULL!
It's been a crazy November so I'm trying to make up for it NOW! LOL!! But I have a few projects due by this Saturday...UGH!!
So here goes...

I am so so thankful for a wonderful family, roof over our heads and food on the table (mostly good...when DH cooks! LOL!!).

Thankful for friends made through scrapbooking. I will miss Frozen Memories (Bartlett IL) as they had closed last month. And I appreciate the opportunity & friendships at Craft Fancy (Arlington Hts. IL)!

Friends who think of me during their busy schedule to make a card, slap a stamp on it and MAIL it to me!! THANK YOU, THERESA TYREE!!! I miss you girl!! xo

VERY thankful for the creative opportunities I receive from wonderful manufacturers who trust me. I am humbled beyond words! Thank you, TaDa Creative Studios, Spellbinders and LaserLine.

To the publishing folks, Scrapbook News and Review Magazine (SNR) and "Love My Memories" (Jpn scrapbook magazine) to whom I write with and create with - thank you!! I have learned so much and hope to learn more...hopefully I am contributing as well! LOL!!
There so many things, people and happenings to be thankful for - I have a good life! Now just to lose some of this poundage and I would BE REALLY HAPPY! Oh, wait...sounds like a new years resolution! Oops, wrong occasion! Heehee!!
