Rita Barakat Designs: Floral Fairy Card Making with Faber Castell USA Blog Hop

CONTEST HAS ENDED - THANKS FOR PARTICIPATING!
CONGRATS TO THE WINNER!

This month I am participating with Rita Barakat Designs and Faber-Castell® USA in a fun blog hop featuring The Veil of the Fairies Die Cuts and Kiss of the Fairy Embossing Powder with the Cardmaking for Beginners Kit to add a little twist!

**I receive products from Rita Barakat Designs, Faber-Castell® USA, and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® for use in my projects. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience and doing so I can share what I personally love to use.**

Floral Fairy Card Making Instructions

I love Faber-Castell® USA kits! They include everything, along with written instructions or suggested techniques. Although I am a card maker, I thought I'd try this Cardmaking for Beginners Kit and add my touch for a magical theme.

There are several paper stencils to create your card design so no pressure if you don't know what to design. I choose the flower and butterfly motif. Just tear along the perforated line but I just used my paper trimmer.

Using this stencil, I decided to cover the card front so I moved it up a little to make room for another round. Using the Black XS Pitt Artist Pen® in the kit, I traced the design...note I wasn't exact and that's OK!

Coloring the flowers, I used all the Goldfaber® Aqua Watercolor Pencils in the kit like coloring pencils. There are five colors: Middle Purple Pink, Ultramarine, Light Cadmium Yellow, Grass Green, and Salmon. Then I watercolored them by applying a moist paintbrush (also in the kit) over the colors.

After the first layer of colors dried, I highlighted areas for interest such as the flowers with the watercolor pencils. Note I did not apply water over them - they will blend and that was not my purpose.

I thought I would use the Grateful Heart Wreath from the Be True Die Cuts collection but I spotted the Retro Fairy from The Veil of the Fairies. Her colors really popped against the backdrop better. Using a few 3D Foam Squares in White Regular, I centered her on the card front.

If that wasn't enough, I wanted to add some sparkle! So I placed a few Adhesive Dots Small around the card front and sprinkled Kiss of the Fairy Embossing Powder. Just tap off the excess and melt with a heating tool. YES! These Adhesive Dots are heat resistant! LOL! Lastly, I added sequins secured with Adhesive Dots Small and DONE! What do you think?
