A BUSY weekend with HAPPY news!

This weekend was ONE HECK OF A WEEKEND full of creativity and inspiration!!! I was at Scrapbook Expo in Chicago, CREATE Chicago Mixed Media Retreat and asked to be on a SUPER COOL manufacturer's guest design team!!

Scrapbook Expo in Chicago (St. Charles IL)

Took place this past Friday and Saturday. It's always exciting to see scrapbook supplies but even more exciting are the friends I get to chat and hug! ScrapMart has always been a part of this venue - this time they brought Button Farm (they offered classes!!) and FarmHouse Paper Company = LOVE~!!

I created a card with FarmHouse Paper Company's Country Kitchen Collection, using JustRite's Large Elegant Sentiments set (August 2013 Release) and Spellbinders latest Cut•Fold•Tuck die release, S5-206 Facination. Love these die templates and they are SO EASY to do...warning: they are addicting to make once you make one!!

First you CUT - I nested the two die templates together (one is the inset die and the other is the border/outlining die)...

Then you FOLD - all the cuts you see, you will need to fold them so that you can tuck them in better...

Lastly you TUCK - all the folded pieces are tucked into the opposite openings and it goes around until all are done. I repeated the process with the smallest one in the set, die #1.

After cut/embossing LF-126 Grand Squares die #1 and #2 with patterned paper from Country Kitchen Collection, I assembled as shown below. I stamped Large Sentiment set and cut/embossed with Fancy Framed Tags Two die (retired). Tied a bow and added bling to the card front to finish.

CREATE Chicago Mixed Media Retreat

Friday night I was at the CREATE Chicago Mixed Media Retreat in Lisle (IL) representing Spellbinders Creative Arts doing a SUPER CUTE!! make 'n take, using Dresses One blanks and its matching die templates from our Media Mixáge™ Line! Designed by our Senior Education Manager, Richard Garay, it was a hit with everyone who stopped by :) BIG THANK YOU to all who participated in the make'n take with me!! I met some of the most nicest and creative people...met a couple of friends I haven't seen in years too!

Faber Castell: Spending Time Together

I thought I would try something different...out of my box and use canvas with my Faber-Castell® Gelatos® Colors Gift Set. This is what I came up with by using a simple letterpress technique...

I used Faber-Castell's Chocolate Gelatos' flat tip to cover a portion of Spellbinders® M-Bossabilities™ Regal Folder (raised side of the design). After I put it through my Grand Calibur® machine, this was the result...

I noticed that I still had some color on my folder so I misted lightly with water and did another pass through (second generation).

The letterpress on this one was a little darker (I'll be using this on another project)...

Next I wanted to stamp my sentiment onto the canvas so I used the same color Gelatos and misted lightly with water. I tried a couple of times to get the desired look. Then die cut over it for perfect placement.

Spellbinders introduced a new Grand Calibur accessory at the summer trade show which helps cut through their most intricate die templates. So I gave a try on the canvas - can we say CUTS LIKE BUTTER?! Highly recommend this Junior Metal Shim.

Here are all the pieces I used for the card front. Loving the Thankful Collection from Authentique Paper (last year's release)!

I adhered these pieces with ScraPerfect's The Best Glue Ever (wet adhesive) and then I put these two sets together with SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L 3D Foam Squares - they work on fabric too!

The first layer was cut/embossed with Spellbinders Card Creator series, A2 Matting Basics A set and a few embellishments for a simple look. Then assembled the rest as shown in the finished card.

JustRite FRI Challenge #103: Things with Wings

Today, I am participating in JustRite® PaperCraft’s Friday Challenge #103. The theme is "Things with Wings" so anything that has wings - mine was a butterfly from S4-395 Les Papillions Two set. I used this month's release, Large Elegant Sentiments set with a variety of Spellbinders® dies and Faber-Castell® Gelatos® for coloring.

I cut/embossed Lacey Tiers Dies set by using wax paper between the paper and die templates. This helps the paper to pop out of the dies without any problems.

Next I colored with Gelatos, misted lightly with water and blended with my fingers. Blot dry with paper towel and repeat until you get the desired coloring.

After I cut/embossed my butterfly from S4-395 Les Papillions Two dies, I stenciled through the die with my Gelatos and misted lightly with water. To get the colors into the openings, I blended with my finger and blot with a paper towel. Gently take the die cut out.

I love using Spellbinders Card Creator series in my cards. This time I layered S5-132 A-2 Matting Basics A and S5-136 A-2 Fancy Weave together in the same patterned paper to give an embossed effect.

Assemble all as shown below. Stamp sentiment from Large Elegant Sentiments and cut/emboss with S5-128 Fancy Framed Tags Two die. It's ready to make someone feel better :)

JustRite: August Release - Joyeux Noel

For today, I created a SPARKLY card using JustRite® PaperCraft August Release - Dotted Fronds Background Stamp, designed by sweet friend, Becca Feeken, with July's release of Heritage Christmas Ornaments set. The red, gold and black combination really makes the card POP!

Want2Scrap: Happy Birthday, Michele!!

I used Spellbinders 5 x 7 Card Creator series to make the card front layers and then embellished the edges with 72 ct Pink Pearls Self-Adhesives.

To make a chalkboard inspired look, I heat emboss images from JustRite PaperCraft's Birthday Vintage Labels Four stamp set using Vintage Labels Four dies and SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L Foam Squares to create layers and edge with Coconut Gelato.

Here's a close up of those fabulous pearls...need to get more as I used exactly 50 pearls for this project (wink wink!!) - LOL!!

Today, I am introducing JustRite® PaperCraft’s August Release with Samantha Walker Designs - Dainty Doilies set, using its coordinating die templates from Spellbinders® Creative Arts Delicate Doilies, which Samantha designed as well!

Other layers were added to the card front. First I used dies from bottom up: A2 Matting Basics A as the base, A2 Filigree Delight to frame and Bitty Blossoms as the accent centered on the Dainty Doilies die cut. Of course, you have to add a little bling to finish!

Happy Birthday Emi and Summer CHA or BUST~!!

Today is my friend, Emi's birthday...she tries to sneak past the day but I'm on to her - HA! On this occasion, I thought I would try my hand at Spellbinders® Creative Arts' newest Media Mixáge™ product - Oval Hatpins! So I created a little gift for my sweet friend on her 29½ year birthday (wink wink!!)!!!

I first filled the oval bezel cup with light pink self-adhesive Sea Glass created by the wonderful folks from Mudd Puddles. Love their stuff!! I used an idea my talented friend, Judy Hayes did on her recent sneak peek project - stuck a jump ring at the bottom of the cup (it's supposed to be closed which I did afterwards ;0P). Set aside to dry.

Next I cut Media Mixáge Birds One blank dies and S4-378 Cherry Blossoms, dies with shrink plastic, colored with Copic markers and heat to shrink. When cooled, I coated them with Matte Medium to prevent the color from running in the dimensional finish at the end.

I poured dimensional finish into the bezel cup. After an hour into the curing process, I added the Sakura blossom, bird (added a pearl for its eye) and branch, covered them with a little dimensional finish and let dry overnight.

Lastly, I added on a metal "e" monogram charm and a couple of clear crystals on the jump ring at the bottom of the bezel cup. Insert into the card that I have created earlier in JR: JUNE 2013 Release - Day 1 post - it was perfect for this project! I took out the existing sentiment and stamped another sentiment on the card front. Then I added a Sakura blossom at the bottom (folded five die cuts in half and adhered to each side to form a dimensional flower), inserted the pins and added pearls to finish.

Today I am introducing another JustRite® PaperCraft July 2013 Release - Christmas Labels Twenty-Two set. I used many layers of wonderful Spellbinders® die templates to create a warm and cozy holiday card.

JustRite: JULY 2013 Release - Fun and Festive!

Another holiday card I made for JustRite® Papercraft's July 2013 Release is from the Christmas Vintage Labels Four Stamp set using their exclusive custom die template, Vintage Labels Four dies.

I created an A2 size card and layered with some　of my favorite Spellbinders® die templates to boot! What do you think?

I started with Spellbinders Card Creator series (A2 Matting Basics A and B sets)to start my card base off right - no measuring, just cut/emboss and layer...you're done! I love Carta Bella's Traditions Collection - a beautiful but not your usual color palette used for the holiday season.

First I stamped my sentiments and images before cut/emboss with Christmas Vintage Labels Four die to create my centerpiece of my card front. With white cardstock, I cut/embossed S5-166 Ornate Squares die to create another layer behind the stamped die cut.

Add some bling and it's ready to be sent! Here's a second look...
