Rita Barakat Designs: Blog Hop with StyleTech Mermaid Ensemble

CONTEST HAS ENDED - THANKS FOR PARTICIPATING!
CONGRATS TO THE WINNER!

Hello! I am so excited to be participating in a blog hop collaboration with Rita Barakat Designs and StyleTech™ Craft. There were so many ideas "swimming" in my head that I ended up with an ensemble. LOL!

My project is a Mermaid Ensemble consisting of a mermaid tail banner, an embellished tumbler full of mermaid straws and a card to finish the trio :) It features Marvelous Mermaid Die Cuts by Rita Barakat Designs and an assortment of Ultra Metallic vinyl from StyleTech™ Craft.

**I receive products from Rita Barakat Designs, StyleTech™ Craft, Spellbinders® Paper Arts, and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® for use in my projects. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience and doing so I can share what I personally love to use.**

Mermaid Ensemble Instructions

MERMAID BANNER STEP OUTS

I hand-drew four mermaid tails on ivory cardstock. Then hand cut them with scissors.

In order to cover a large area with embossing powder, I applied Adhesive Sheets to the front of each tail. There are many sizes to choose from but the 6 x 12-inch Adhesive Sheet was the easiest to work with.

It's easy to do! Simply cut to size and pull the liner off to place the tail front side down, replace the liner over the tail and burnish with a bone folder to get the best transfer.

Next, I covered each of the tail with Mermaid Fin Embossing Powder and pressed the powder down to secure before tapping off the excess.

Then I melted the powder with a heating tool. LOVED how it turned out! Repeat on the other three tails.

To bring more interest to the tails, I die-cut Mermaid Scale Mat from the Ultra Metallic vinyl in Green and Purple. I placed a die cut on two of the mermaid tales and trim the excess. Don't forget to take off the bottom liner! Note: I trimmed about 0.25-inch to fold over in the back for a finished edge.

For the letters, I applied Ultra Metallic vinyl in Melon over a sheet of 3D Foam Creative Sheet Medium in White. They are a little thicker than the Small Size so they will stand out a little more. Die-cut them with a letter etched die to spell out "RITA" for our designer extraordinaire!

For the sea horse, I die-cut with a piece of 3D Foam Creative Sheet White in Small. Take the top liner off and cover it with Kiss of the Fairy Embossing Powder. Melt the powder with a heating tool.

Add a small self-adhesive pearl for its eye and add to the "R" banner as shown below.

Here's the rest of the tails. I simply added the "I" and one of Rita's Marvelous Mermaid Die Cuts which was secured with the E-Z Runner® Ultra.

For the foiled shell, I die-cut a shell-shaped etched die with a 3D Foam Creative Sheet Small in White. I used a Metallic Transfer Foil Sheet in Teal on top of the 3D Foam shells and gently rub to transfer the color. Add with the "T" for a great tail design :)

Lastly, the letter "A" was added, along with one of Rita's Marvelous Mermaid Die Cuts which was secured with the E-Z Runner® Ultra. Punch holes on each top side of the tails and thread ribbon to be hung!

MERMAID SHELL TUMBLER STEP OUTS

I hand cut a tail top shape with Ultra Metallic Mint vinyl. It was so easy to cut and no residue on my favorite gold scissors {{BIG GRIN}} Then I applied the vinyl on a white plastic tumbler. Make sure to get all the air bubbles out.

For the shell top, I die-cut a shell-shaped etched die with a 3D Foam Creative Sheet Small in White. To make it really stand out, I placed a Metallic Transfer Foil Sheet in Magenta on top of the 3D Foam shells and gently rub to transfer the color.

For extra interest, I added self-adhered pearls on each shell shape and adhered the shells above the mermaid tail. Lastly, I had leftover Mermaid Scale Mat die cut so I trimmed off the top and added over the tail under the divided center.

Just for fun, I added paper straws covered with Ultra Metallic vinyl to create Mermaid Straws as accents for inside the cup. Simply cover a paper straw by rolling a piece 1 x 7.75-inch coordinating colors from the Ultra Metallic vinyl and DONE!

Marvelous Mermaid Card Step Outs

BUT WAIT! There's one more I'd like to share. LOL! My Marvelous Mermaid Card featuring Marvelous Mermaid Die Cuts and Ultra Metallic Vinyl in Blue.

Using the Mermaid Scale Mat die, I die-cut into the Ultra Metallic Vinyl in Blue. I trimmed the borders and cut into two seven-row sections. Set aside the third piece for another project.

Place one section of the die cut on the patterned paper card panel.

Then add the second die cut piece to finish off the panel. Trim the excess and tuck behind the card panel.

Add one of Rita's Marvelous Mermaid Die Cuts creations on top of the card panel with 3D Foam Squares in White Regular. Note I cut the squares to fit the narrow areas.

Since I like more dimension :) I added Crafty Foam Tape in Black on the back of the card panel and added to the card front to finish!

Of course, I have to have PEARLS to finish off the details! A beautiful way to add texture :)

Here's the finished card. LOVE how it turned out!

Here's the entire ensemble together again. What do you think?
