Hey y'all! Saving the best for last on this New Year's Eve Party with Rita Barakat - HA! Hope you are enjoying each challenge and that you will try (+ learn) new techniques :)
NYE Challenge #7: Mine is a concept called "Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside" with your projects. I will show you different techniques but will use one to create a finished project. Let's get started!
Double Dog Dare to Wear Challenge Tag Step Outs
With most of my mixed media projects, I use Gesso to prime my tag base (think a foundation for make-up).Next, apply an Adhesive Sheet on top of my tag. Cover as much as you can. I burnished here and there for a distressed look.
Here's a quick video on How to Use Adhesive Sheets (ignore the die-cutting part but that's cool too - lol!).
Now for the fun part! Cover the entire tag front with Midnight Magic Embossing Powder by Rita Barakat and Emerald Creek. Tap off the excess and melt the powder with a heating tool. Here is a before/after image below. The effects are amazing!
These Cowgirls die cuts are so cool! Rita Barakat designs die cuts and I knew I had to have this set :) I trimmed out the white background a little because I wanted my background to show. Thank goodness for little scissors! LOL!
Wanted some dimension behind the die cut so I added Crafty Foam Tape on the back. It sticks well to the rough surface and I can cut as long or short to fit the shape.
I had some material that I cut into narrow strips and threaded them through the tag opening.
Using the computer, I printed out the phrase "Double Dog Dare!" on white cardstock and cut into a strip. Using the Crafty Foam Tape, I placed them on the tag and it's done!

For another example, I used 3D Creative Foam Sheet (double-sided adhesive foam sheet) and Mermaid Fin Embossing Powder to make a dimensional background or die-cut from. It's heat resistant!
Or how about using tear tape like the Crafty Power Tape with Kiss of Fairy Embossing Powder to create a border?
There other ways to use "Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside" but I'll stop here, you get the point :) I've lined up all the ones that I did.
SO many options! REMEMBER: share your project with us on our Facebook Page CLICK: Rise and Shine with Rita Barakat. DEADLINE is JANUARY 7 2018 (NOON CST) to enter to win a prize!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
