ScrapMart: Ironworks Card

Today I am sharing a card I created for a consumer show in Japan, I wanted something that was striking in color so black and white with touches of red and gold were my choices.

Ironworks Card by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: WorldWin Papers; Pearls: KasierCraft; Dies: Spellbinders™ Paper Arts (S5-059 Ironwork Motifs; E8-006 Classic Petal); Adhesive: ScraPerfect; Other: Foam Tape

Using Ironworks Motifs die cuts, I layered to create a wonderful center accent for the card. Edge the card with Edgeabilities and it becomes even more amazing! Love those Edgeabilities dies!! Add a bit of pearls and you're all set.

ScrapMart: Father's Day Box

Tomorrow is Father's Day...for me and others who have lost their fathers, it's a day of mixed emotions. So tomorrow, I will think HAPPY thoughts of mine and celebrate the day :) For starters, I created this cute box out of 7 1/2 x 10" patterned paper...I'll give you the link at the end of the post :)

Father's Day Box by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Patterned Papers: Tim Holtz (Crowded Attic Collection); Ink: Ranger (Distress Ink/Tim Holtz); Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S5-048 Sprightly Sprockets; S4-357 Spiral Blossom Three and Jewel Tones & Precious Metals Premium Craft Foils Assortment); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever); Other: Brad, Sand Paper

I enjoyed this project as it uses only one 12 x 12" paper...even the band can come from the same piece of paper (this one I used from another box I made...I did alot of them! LOL!). These step outs give you an idea of how easy it was! I even managed to sneak a flower in the project ;0P

The instruction details and video came from Dawn's Stamping Studio Surprise Box Video so visit her blog! Looks like she has a lot of fun creations :)

For supplies, be sure to visit Scrap-mart.com and sign up for their monthly email with their awesome 40% coupon off one retail price (not Scrap-mart's special price) item!

Milestone Birthday and Giveaway!!

I used to think 50 was SO OLD when I was a kid! LOL! Funny I don't feel OLD today...heehee! So today is my birthday and unfortunately, hubby has a business trip overseas for two weeks = BOO! That means you all have to deal with me :0)

Back in April, my BFFs from college days and I went to AZ for a girls' weekend...I haven't been on a long distance girls' weekend...so I was excited....equally exciting we all celebrated our milestone together....love that....love them xo

Using Teresa Collins' Everyday Moments Collection, I created a page to commemorate this special weekend (click on pictures for closer look) and special friends...Kathy, Debbie and Rita (we missed you, Theresa!!) - thanks for putting up with me for all these years and more years to come!!

Noteworthy by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Papers and Stickers: Teresa Collins (Everyday Moments Collection); Glitter and Ink: Ranger (Stickles/Distress Ink); Pins: Maya Road; Pearls: KaiserCrafts, PRIMA and Want2Scraps; Ribbon: Offray; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-351 Spiral Blossom One, S4-357 Spiral Blossom ThreeS5-086 Bitty Blossoms, S5-058 Ironworks Accents, S5-078 Persian Accents and S5-051 Fanciful Flight); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever)

I wanted to try something new for my pages...a cluster of flowers. Since I am a mom of boys - it's rare to have them on my pages. My excuse...this page is about ME!

One of my favorite pictures from this wonderful trip - thank you, Rita, for opening your place to us! It was SO relaxing :0)

TaDa Creative Studios: Beach Buddies

I am posting on TaDa Creative Studios' FaceBook Page today. Using 6 x 6" Sunny Skies Mini (laser cut cardstock) from the Poolside Collection, I made a frame from scratch.

Beach Buddies Frame by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Craft; LaserCut Cardstock, Patterned Papers, Stamp: TaDa Creative Studios (Poolside and Sizzlin' Summer Collections); Mesh Ribbon: Creative Impression; Ink: Ranger (Distress Ink/Tim Holtz) and Clearsnap; Marker: KURETAKE ZIG; Sand Paste and Shells: Mudd Puddles; Dies: Spellbinder Paper Arts (S5-029 Nested Lacey Pennants and S4-273 From The  Sea) and Sizzix (Easel/Tim Holtz); Stencil: Crafter's Workshop (Clouds); Texture Paste: Golden (Light Molding Paste); Ink Mist: Tattered Angels (Glimmer Mist Bronze); Adhesives: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever); Other: Crab Eyelet, Decorative Tape, White Paint

These are the materials I used to make the frame base...6 x6" cereal thin cardboard, 3 1/2 x 6" patterned paper (Poolside Snippets & Clippets Side B) adhered on the top and Sunny Skies Mini Paper is placed last. I forgot to add in the easel die cut that I cut from Tim Holtz Collection.

Then put the cloud stencil on top and add molding paste as shown - let dry. It will dry translucent so I add a little white paint. Let dry I sprayed Glimmer Mist on top half of the frame. A happy accident! The paper popped up especially around the sun to give it dimension! COOL! LOL! I stamped Beach Buddies (Sizzlin' Summer Acrylic Stamp Set = SOLD OUT, sorry!) on the pennant tail and placed it on the top right corner.

After placing the matted picture on the frame, I cut and embossed the fish. I stenciled with a rainbow chalk ink through the die template and touched up the colors when I popped the die cut out of the die template. I adhered the mesh ribbon and the fish on top - added bling as its eye :0)

What's a beach scene without sand?! Mudd Puddles is a great place to purchase sand paste - love their stuff!! Those mini shells also came from them too. Aren't they a wonderful addition?! Then I had this crab eyelet for years and finally has a home on this project! LOL!!

I hope you enjoyed all the details on this homemade frame!
Thanks for stopping by :0)

ScrapMart: Dad

I had this huge pad of Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Collection sitting in front of me and I thought what a perfect father's day card to create with! So I started with a shaped card base by cutting and embossing with Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® Postage Stamps dies.

Dad by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: Darice; Patterned Paper: Graphic 45 (A Proper Gentleman Collection); Stamp: JustRite Stampers (You Are The Best set); Ink: Clearsnap; Paint Pen: ZIG Kuretake; Pin: Maya Road; Gear: Idea-ology/Tim Holtz; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4348 Postage Stamps, S4-291 Labels Fifteen, S5-048 Sprightly Sprockets and S5-028 Nested Pennants); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever); Other: Button, Shrink Plastic

I used shrink plastic to cut and emboss the gear in Sprightly Sprockets and colored with silver paint pen. It looked really shiney so I inked with brown chalk ink and it worked well! Layered all the pieces together to create a wonderful Father's Day card!

It's graduation season and so many of my friends are experiencing this exciting time in their son's/daughter's lives. I DO NOT look forward to this next year with my first born...sniff, sniff! ScrapMart: Friends

With Spellbinders™ M-Bossabilities™ Enchanted folder, I created a card using the letterpress technique - a favorite technique. This time I used it as a background to give my card a touch of elegance.

Friends by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: The Paper Company (white) and American Crafts (green); Stamp: JustRite Stampers (Your Special Day Medallion Labels set and JB-10025 Nested Oval Medallion Labels dies); Ink: Ranger Ink's Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Peeled Paint); Pins: Maya Road; Bling: Want2Scrap; Ribbon: Offray; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (Grand Calibur Die Cutting and Embossing Machine, S5-031 Fancy Tags Three and ES-005 Enchanted); Tool: Scor-Pal; Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever) and SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVE BY 3L (3D Foam Squares)

I swiped the ink across side B design (remember with Spellbinders M-Bossabilities, you get TWO DESIGNS - LOVE that!!). Then I carefully placed a piece 4 1/2 x 5 1/2" of white cardstock...just enough to cover the design.

If you have using Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Die Cutting and Embossing Machine, you will need a Raspberry Plate (D Plate/Adapter Plate) for all embossing folders.

Embossing Sandwich in the Spellbinders Grand Calibur (bottom UP):
A Plate (Base Plate)
Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Enchanted w/ cardstock
D Plate (Raspberry Adapter Plate)

I used the junior plates as I had only one product to use and it was so much quicker...definitely recommend this set for small projects. See my post on Scrap-Mart: Spellbinders Junior Plates Are Available for detailed info.

After I letterpressed, trim the cardstock 4 x 5 1/4" to fit on a A2 card and inked the edges. Next I stamped the sentiment and cut/embossed the Oval Medallion Labels #2 (the smallest die is #1) over the sentiment. Assembled with 3D Foam Squares and Nestabling. Adhered everything as shown. A second look...

Supplies Available at Scrap-Mart.com:
American Crafts cardstock
JustRite Stampers - Your Special Day Medallion Labels set, JB-10025 Nested Oval Medallion Labels (exclusive JustRite Stampers custom die set)
Ranger Ink's Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Peeled Paint

Scrap-Mart: Paper Lantern

With Spellbinders™ M-Bossabilities™ folder and some die templates, I created a real easy paper lantern for any fun occasion like a graduation party, bridal shower, baby shower...

Paper Lantern by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Crafts and The Paper Company (white); Vellum: The Paper Studio; Ink Mist: Tattered Angels (Glimmer Mist); Bling: Want2Scrap; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-347 Labels Twenty-Three, S5-083 Antique Frame & AccentsS4-352 Spiral Flower Two and EL-002 Regal); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever)

Take 12 x 6" piece of cardstock and score at 4" and 8". Next score a piece of 4½ x 6" cardstock at 1/8" on each side. Then cut/emboss S4-347 Labels Twenty-Three die #6 (the smallest die size is #1) on each of the panels of both pieces of cardstock. Make sure each opening are aligned straight.

Emboss four 4 x 5" pieces of vellum with EL-002 Regal folder (Side B). If you have a Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Die Cutting and Embossing Machine, you will need a Raspberry Plate to achieve this step. Scrap-Mart.com has them in stock.

Adhere the vellum pieces to the sides and set aside to dry. Cut/emboss S5-083 Antique Frame & Accents frame die and adhere to the front panel of the lantern. Add bling to the top and bottom of frame.

Mist Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Couldn't make up my mind so I misted two colors and decided on the Pink Bubblegum (love the name!). Cut/emboss S4-352 Spiral Blossom Two, adhered on the front panel and added a bling in the center.

I used The Perfect Crafting Pouch to dust away any excess dried adhesive since it leaves a tacky finish.

Add a candle and you have yourself a wonderful home decor! Here's a second look...

What I did on Mother's Day...

Hi all!

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day. Mine started the night before...overseas calls to our mothers (Japan is 14 hours ahead...I think...lol!). My mother-in-law (MIL) mentioned she was out gardening before our phone call...well, my mind went into full gear and I pulled out Spellbinders™ die templates to come up with this...

TaDa Creative Studios: Hey Chick!

Happy Friday!! Today is my turn on TaDa Creative Studios FaceBook. I decided that I wanted to do a fancy shaped card with a western twist to it = PHEW, that's mouthful! LOL!!

Hey, Chick by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Craft; Patterned Paper: TaDa Creative Studios (Yee Haw Collection); Brad: KI Memories; Ink Mist: Lindy's Stamp Gang (Starbursts Ink Spray Tiffany's Blue); Ribbon: Creative Impression; Button: Maya Road; Dies: Spellbinders™ Paper Arts (S5-090 Romantic Rectangles; S5-073 Orchard Harvest Tags and Accents, S5-030 Fancy Tags Two and S5-050 Rose Creations) and Adhesives: ScraPerfect (The Best Glue Ever) and SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L (3D Foam Squares)

So what do you think? I have to admit it's different but kind of like it. LOL! The patterned paper I used (Yee Haw Snippets & Clippets' B side) for the flower I think makes it work (the western theme). I misted it to add a little bling - love this Lindy's Stamp Starbursts Ink Spray Tiffany's Blue!!! I ordered mine from Scrap-Mart.com and it's at a great price :)

Other News:

I submitted a card for a call on Scrap & Stamp Arts Magazine but wasn't sure if it was even accepted or not, until this came in the mail a couple of days ago!

So I flipped through the pages and found this!

What a wonderful surprise! LOVE how I can combine two of my favorite things - TaDa Creative Studios papers (Goody Two Shoes Collection - Straight Laced) and Spellbinders die templates (in this case, Spellbinders Shapeabilities® Cut Fold Tuck die S5-114 Spectacular Spin). SO excited and thankful for published opportunity!

OK...enough tooting! Off to create :0)
Thanks for stopping by!!

Scrapmart: Mother's Day Shaped Card

How was your (inter-) national scrapbook day?! I used Spellbinders™ Grand Nestabilities® in some of my projects :) To create a shaped card for Mother's Day, I pulled out LF-249 Grand Big Scalloped Circles and LF-114 Grand Circles.

Mother's Day Shaped Card by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: The Paper Company (white) and American Crafts (yellow); Patterned Paper: Teresa Collins (Everyday Moments Collection); Bling: Want2Scrap; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (LF-249 Grand Big Scalloped Circles, LF-114 Grand Circles, S5-115 Round About, S5-114 Spectacular Spin and  S4-352 Spiral Blossom Two; Adhesives: ScarPerfect (The Best Glue Ever)
Shaped card: I cut/emboss two LF-249 Grand Big Scalloped Circles #2 (the smallest die is #1) and adhered together so that I have a complete shape, not flat nor folded at the top or side. LF-114 Grand Circles #2 was cut/embossed to frame the card front.

Card base: I scored about 3/4" from the top on one of the die cut (this was my back piece) and adhered the scored area with my front card base.

Card front: I cut/embossed one of (from the top) S4-352 Spiral Blossom Two, S5-114 Spectacular Spin #2 and S5-115 Round About #3. Then I layered all and adhered onto the card base. The yellow bling was added to finish off the look.

Here's a second look at the card...I loved how it turned out! I hope my mom thinks so too!

A Jillian Vance Design: National Scrapbook Day with A Jillian Vance Design!

Come celebrate National Scrapbook Day with A Jillian Vance Design (AJVD) and her friends! If this is your first stop, start from AJVD :0)

The theme is Designer's Choice using Black, White and Red, AJVD signature colors, and using AJVD stamp sets. My choice is a pocket card using AJVD's Money, Money Stamp Set.

I used a 12 x 4" strip of black cardstock (for the picture, white was used...changed my mind - lol!) scored at 4" and 8". The right section was cut diagonally to create the pocket. Set aside.

After I swiped ScraPerfect's The Perfect Crafting Pouch on the cardstock, I inked "A Gift For You" sentiment from Money, Money Stamp Set with VersaMark. With white embossing powder, I heat embossed. Then I cut/embossed over the sentiment with S5-029 Lacey Nested Pennants widest ribbon tail die. Set aside.

Inside the card, I heat embossed "a little money for my honey" sentiment on the pocket. Added patterned papers in the back and edge of pocket. The last touch, I wrote a little note on a S4-304 Eyelet Circle die cut.

For the card front by cutting 3 7/8 x 3 7/8" patterned paper and ink mist with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Rudolph's Red Nose. I embellished an Eyelet Circle die cut with black blings and S4-312 Blossoms Three which I misted with the same color ink spray. Add the heat embossed ribbon tail and some money, it's ready to give.

A Gift For You by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: Creative Memories (Black) and The Paper Company (White); Patterned Paper: Teresa Collins (Carolina Breeze Collection); Stamp: A Jillian Vance Design (Money, Money Set); Embossing Ink: TSUKINEKO (VersaMark); Embossing Powder: Stampendous (White); Ink Mist: Lindy's Gang Stamp Gang (Rudolph's Red Nose); Rhinestones: Want2Scrap; Tools: ScraPerfect (The Perfect Crafting Pouch) and Scor-Pal; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-304 Eyelet Circles, S4-312 Spiral Blossom Three and S5-029 Lacey Nested Pennants)
