Paper Hearts Challenge: My Hearts :)

I have been a fan of Courtney Walsh even BEFORE she authored five books! LOL!! Before committing to become an author, she was also well known in the Craft Industry from being an uber talented designer to authoring an inspirational idea book to a former public relations front person for Webster's Pages. Just love her!

Photo taken from Courtney Walsh Blog

Her last published book Paper Hearts is about...(summary from Amazon.com):

Abigail Pressman would never have guessed that love notes penned on paper hearts by an anonymous couple could restore her belief in love. As a business owner in a quaint town at the base of the Rockies, she’s poured everything into dreams of expansion . . . and resisting the matchmaking efforts of the Valentine Volunteers, who gather in her store to continue Loves Park’s tradition of stamping mail with the city’s romantic postmark.

When Abigail is unwillingly drafted into the Volunteers, she encounters the paper hearts, a distraction that couldn’t come at a worse time. A hard-to-read doctor has become Abigail’s new landlord, and he’s threatening to end her lease to expand his practice.

As she fights a growing attraction to this handsome man crushing her dreams, Abigail is inspired to string the hearts in her store, sparking a citywide infatuation with the artsy trend. But when a new batch of hearts reaches the Volunteers, it appears something tragic has happened to the couple. Will uncovering their story confirm Abigail’s doubts about love, or could it rescue her dreams . . . and her heart?

A couple of weeks ago, Author Courtney challenged people to a Paper Hearts Challenge and how perfect - right before Valentines! Take a look at her Paper Hearts promo video on the book (so cute & quirky!)...

"Maybe you haven't been writing paper hearts all year, like the mystery couple in "Paper Hearts", but today is the PERFECT day to start, leading up to Valentine's Day! And it's so easy:

1. Cut paper or cardstock in to hearts or go to the Target dollar bin and pick up some pre-cut ones.
2. Write one thing you love about your spouse, significant other, child or friend every day leading up to Valentine's Day.
3. On the 14th, bombard your people with LOVE. You can string them up, tape them to the bathroom mirror, hide them around the house or stick them all over their bedroom door... there's no right or wrong here!
4. Share a picture on your FB page or Instagram with the hashtag ‪#‎shareyourheart‬ and you'll be entered to win signed copies of BOTH Paper Hearts and my newest novel Change of Heart!"

So I took her up on the challenge or I should say parts of it (hard to keep up - lol!):

Here's Day 1 of my Paper Hearts Challenge: it's a GOLDen kind of heart! Using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® 3D Foam Hearts with Pigment Powder Gold, wrote in Design Memory Craft® Metallic PITT® Artist Pen Gold on top of Spellbinders® Creative Arts Classic Heart die cut #shareyourheart

Day 2: I love our happy hour chats of our day. #IntlBanking #Crafting #HTMLcoding #DrinksBeforeDinnerAtHome Used Spellbinders Tool 'n One™ to take out Fonts One - Uppercase & Pierced Hearts die cuts and adhering with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Adhesive Sheet. Used Pigment Powder Wine mixed with Girlie Grunge Art Medium to colors CHATS

Day 5: you make my heart flutter! Used this beautiful Webster's Pages patterned paper to make a 3D heart using Spellbinders® Classic Heart die and adhered all together with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Dual Tip Glue and Dodz™ Small behind the banner. For a finished edge, I inked them with ClearSnap ColorBox Chalk. I think one of my favorite hearts!

Day 12: how he moves my heart with his smile :) Being clever and using fringe - lol!! Hope it works! Used Donna Salazar with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Girlie Grunge Art Medium to adhere three strips of fringed patterned paper (cut with Martha Stewarts' Fringe Scissors on DoodleBug paper) and then cut with Spellbinders® Classic Heart die template.

Put them all together (the plain hearts have notes in the back) and I created this banner! SO FUN!! Click on images for a closer look. Thanks, Courtney, for the challenge!

Next book for Courtney is Change of Heart - I just got the book a couple of days ago and hope to read it REAL SOON!! Interested click here (not affiliated): Change of Heart by Courtney Walsh to purchase your copy!

Have a HEART-FULL DAY!!

CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) Mega Trade Show - Winter 2016 (Part 2)

My continued post about my happenings at last month's CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) Mega Trade Show - Winter 2016. If you missed Part 1, please click: CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) Mega Trade Show - Winter 2016 (Part 1).

It's Sunday (1/10) morning - Day 2 of CHA! Today I attend two breakfast events (7:00AM Michaels Bloggers Breakfast & 9:00AM Spellbinders Media Breakfast) and led a make 'n take at Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L (Booth #755) at the end of the day (3:00 to 5:00 PM). Then off to a business dinner.

Not a bad looking bunch for 7:00AM! LOL!! Had a nice chat with Jo Pearson, spokesperson for Michaels and one of the judges of Craft Wars on the TLC Channel a couple of years ago. So fun to chat with her!

Spellbinders Media Breakfast is always FUN - lots of information on their product line and inspiration behind them. LOVED the featured designers - Stacey Caron, Becca Feeken, Debi Adams, Donna Salazar, Seth Apter and Tammy Tutterow. ALL are amazing talent!!

Finally got an updated picture together with Spellbinders Co-Founder, President and Licensed Designer, Stacey Caron, before the media crowd came in. LOVE HER~!!

Then walk off two breakfasts by wandering the floor to look for trends and fun designs...

Thought this was cool to have a studio right on the show floor - we had another that was more of a stage format that Create and Craft folks were using (LIVE broadcast).

Happy to see these AMAZINGLY TALENTED artists - Carisa Zglobicki and Chrissie Tobas!! It took Chrissie and I to fly to LA to see each other - um, we live in neighboring towns back in Chicago. Go figure! LOL!!

FINALLY got to meet this sweet person, Rose Curtis, at CHA IRL (In Real Life)!! We have worked together (website-related) - she from AZ and me from IL over Skype. SO excited!!

Then off to lead a make 'n take project at Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L (#755) featuring Donna Salazar with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L newest release! We had retailers create a lanyard dec - so cute and fun to make. Featured product: Girlie Grunge Gauze (coming soon), Girlie Grunge Art Medium (coming soon), Dodz Small and Dodz XL. See the Steel Rule Die and the larger spiral blossom die cut? Those are Donna's newest release (SR-034 Jumbo Roses and S4-573 Big Blossom - coming soon) with Spellbinders Creative Arts!

AND while I was doing the make 'n take, the uber talented Donna Salazar and Marisa Job sandwich me for a quick picture (thank you, Richard Job for taking the picture of us crazy girls! lol!)!

Then off to dinner with friends to talk about crafty business while roomie (and the rest of my designer friends - lol!) watches Downton Abby (a popular UK TV series).

Day 3 - I'm off to the Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® Booth (#2701). I had fun adult coloring this 5th Anniversary postcard designed by talented Jamie Dougherty with retailers! They can take it home with them or the Company will mail it for you! How cool!

This wonderful bold artwork was created by Design Memory Craft Sales Guru Tammie Wilson! Caught my eye = LOVE! See! Even the folks who work there are artist themselves :)

Got to hang out with these crazy talented peeps - Rita Barakat and Mou Sau who are members of the Design Memory Craft Design Team.

See the scarf around my neck?! It was colored with Design Memory Craft® Steampunk Gelatos® by dissolving each Gelatos® color with water and misting the liquid onto the white scarf. The office challenged me to alter mine to take to the show. LOVED how it turned out...ombre design!

After I was done helping out (actually playing! lol!), I wandered on the floor to end up back at the Spellbinders booth to see the raffling off of the "Tricked Up" Platinum Machines. Each machine was designed by our talented licensed designers. I managed to take these designed by (top:) Debi Adams & Tammy Tutterow and (bottom) Donna Salazar & Seth Apter.

This pretty lady is Mary Busch, V.P. of Marketing for Spellbinders, announcing retailer winners and holding up Stacey Caron's "Tricked Out" Platinum Machine :)

The day ended with a quiet dinner of reflection with my roomie at Morton's Steakhouse...um, thank goodness I shared the desert with Betsy (I forgot about their HUGE slices!). It was YUMMY! LOL!!

Next morning, she was off for the last day of CHA and breakdown of the booth. I headed for the airport (SNA) back to the FROZEN land of Chicago - HA! Farewell CHA in Anaheim, CA! Looking forward to the 2017 show in Phoenix AZ :)

Thanks for sticking with me this far! LOL!
