ScrapMart: Apple of My Eye

Today is another reminder that fall is in the air. I love fall and all its colors! FarmHouse Paper Company's Sugar Hill Collection is a wonderful reminder of it. I whipped up this card - so easy and fast! Thanks to Spellbinders™ Card Creator series and of course, available at Scrap-mart.com :0)

Supplies - Patterned Papers and Cardstock Stickers: FarmHouse Paper Company (Sugar Hill Collection); Twine: May Arts; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S5-132 A-2 Matting Basics B); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (the Best Glue Ever); Other: Kraft Cardstock

Friends asked about Spellbinders Nestabilities® Card Creator dies so I thought I'd share a video about them. If you are a cardmaker, this is something you really need to consider!

I hope this gives you a better idea of why I LOVE using them!

Speaking of Spellbinders, they are trying something new & fun called "Try It Tuesday!" A weekly chat (beginning today - Oct. 30th) at 9am PT LIVE about techniques both new and old. We'll be trying new products that we love and experimenting by crafting outside the box! More details, go to Spellbinders' Try It Tuesday blog post!

SPECIAL NOTE: To my friends on the east coast and in Hurricane Sandy's path, know that I am praying for your safety during this time!! I used to live on the east coast right by the Hudson River in NJ/NY area...I can only imagine. Hugs to you all!

It's Hip To Be Square - Day 6

My sweet and talented friend, Lisa Swift, came up with a wonderful idea of doing a series on a trend that has been going strong for the last couple of years - 6 x 6" paper pads! She introduced this layout I created over on her blog...

President's Club by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Papers, Die Cuts and Wood Embellie: Pink Paislee (Nantucket Collection); TearDrops: Robin’s Nest; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (LF-126 Grand Squares); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (the Best Glue Ever); Other: Foam Square

My 6 x 6" paper use is making a background with LF-126 Grand Squares die templates from Spellbinders Paper Arts. You can see a peek of the pattern behind the double matted photo and it gives a finished edge all around :0)

I also covered this trend in one of my "Trend Watch" articles at "Love My Memories" Japanese scrapbooking magazine. This page was published in the most recent issue...

Moments by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Papers and Stickers: Teresa Collins (Everyday Moments Collection); Tissue Tape: Advantus (Tim Holtz); Ink: Tattered Angels; Pearl: Want2Scrap; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-351 Spiral Blossom One, S5-025 Labels Seventeen, S4-356 Floral Ovals and S5-066 Shadow Flowers); Tool: Epiphany Craft; Adhesive: ScraPerfect (Best Glue Ever)
Thanks, Lisa, for inviting me to your special "Hip To Be Square" feature! SO much fun reading each day on what other way to use 6 x 6" paper!

ScraPerfect: Fancy 2012 Heirloom Ornament Card

Today I'm up on the ScraPerfect Blog's Fancy 2012 Heirloom Ornament post! I'm a little bit early but I created a holiday card :0)

Fancy 2012 Heirloom Ornament Card by Margie Higuchi
Supplies – Stamp: JustRite® Papercraft (Lattice Background Stamp); Ink: TSUKINEKO (VersaMark); Embossing Powder: Stampendous (Detail White); Dies, Embossing Folder & Craft Foil: Spellbinders™ Paper Arts (S5-116 2012 Heirloom Ornament, S5-131 A-2 Matting Basics A, S5-132 A-2 Matting Basics B, EL-014 Holiday Magic M-Bossabilities™ Folder and F-012 Precious Metal Premium Craft Foils Assortment); Tools & Adhesive: ScraPerfect (Embellie Gellie, Perfect Crafting Pouch, Perfect Cleaning Cloth and Best Glue Ever); Other: Black, White Cardstock, Red Tinsel Trim

Swipe the Perfect Crafting Pouch over the black cardstock before stamping image. I also swipe the Perfect Crafting Pouch over the sheet of paper to catch the embossing in…don’t want to miss any powder! LOL!

Next I cut/embossed all my pieces with Spellbinders Card Creator series – all the die cuts layer perfectly on to an A-2 (4 ¼ x 5 ½”) card. Using the Best Glue Ever, I can even apply glue on the narrowest of edges.

When placing all the pieces together, you will get a card front that is shown below...

Next I embossed the craft foil with M-Bossabilities Folder and cut/emboss it with 2012 Heirloom Ornament. I wanted to highlight the beautiful embossing so I used sandpaper and wipe it clean with the Perfect Cleaning Cloth.

Then I assembled all the pieces together to create the finished card...here's a second look.

Hope you enjoyed the process and how these ScraPerfect products are a "must have" in your basic tool kit! LIKE what you see? Bookmark ScraPerfect's Blog and LIKE them on ScraPerfect FaceBook Page!

ScrapMart: CKC & Hi!

I attended the Creating Keepsakes Convention (CKC) - Chicago last weekend. The day I went it was rainy so it was a perfect day to do something scrappy! Met friends and talked so much (really? lol!) that I didn't take too many pictures.

KURETAKE: US & CANADA DT Member!

I am so thrilled and excited to be on the KURETAKE ZIG Design Team!! In your tool kit somewhere I am sure you have a ZIG Writer pen, right? These folks manufacture those and many other types of writing instruments for years!

Today, I thought I'd share a project created with ZIG Memory System® Millennium 01 Pure Black. I love how well I can doodle with this on shrink plastic!

Jewel Stones Charms by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Shrink Plastic: PolyShrink (White); Marker: KURETAKE ZIG (ZIG Memory System Millennium 01 Pure Black); Jump Ring: Advantus (Tim Holtz); Cord: Canvas Corp.; Die: Spellbinders™ Paper Arts (S5-098 Jewels Stones); Tool: We R Memory Keepers (Crop A Dile) and Darice (Heating Tool)

I was watching the Presidential Debate while I was doodling...I think you know my state of mind at the time was! LOL!!! Sorry about the bad lighting.

Then using my Grand Calibur® Die Cutting and Embossing Machine, I cut/embossed the plastic with a few of S5-098 Jewel Stones dies. Then I punched holes on top of the die cuts and used my heating tool to shrink. To create some cute charms to use for a future project :)

Thanks for letting me share my news and a little project to go with!

ScrapMart: Give Thanks Tin

I created an altered piece out of my mint tin using FarmHouse Paper Company's Sugar Hill Collection. The inside I placed some journaling prompts from the patterned papers for family to write what they are thankful for this year :)

Give Thanks Tin by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Patterned Papers, Cardstock Stickers: FarmHouse Paper Company (Sugar Hill Collection); Ink: Ranger (Walnut Stain Distress Ink); Twine: May Arts; Gesso: LiquiTex; Tools: Ranger (Ink Blending Tool), Creative Memories (Corner Punch); Adhesive: ScraPerfect (the Best Glue Ever); Other: Tin

First I had to prep the tin with a coat of Gesso and then I inked the edges for a finished look when I adhere the papers onto the tin.

After choosing the patterned papers and chipboard stickers, I cut them to size by tracing the tin shape with pencil and hand cut them. I also rounded the corners with a punch and inked the edges.

Next I used liquid adhesive to all the pieces together - inside, outside and around the sides. LOVE the look so far!

Last it's time to put together the cover - my favorite part! Love these chipboard stickers, they give you a lot and so many choices to add to your project :)

Here is a second look at my finished project!

Hope you enjoyed the process - have a great day!!

ScrapMart: World Card Making Day

Today is World Card Making Day and I am pleased to be part of the bloggers participating!

I created a couple of cards that were from the Sugar Hill Collection of FarmHouse Paper Company, a new paper company that made its debut at the 2012 Summer Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) trade show in July.

Pumpkin Circle Card by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Patterned Papers and Chipboard Stickers: FarmHouse Paper Company (Sugar Hill Collection); Ink: Ranger (Walnut Stain Distress Ink); Rhinestones: Want2Scrap and Prima; Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-331 Pumpkin Circles, S5-120 Fall Foliage and S4-385 Little Leaves Sets); Adhesives and Tool: ScraPerfect (the Best Glue Ever and the Embellie Gellie)

I also embellished the inside of the card with a maple die cut from S5-120 Fall Foliage and a chipboard sentiment from FarmHouse Paper Company. The edges were also inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Cherry Mason Jar by Margie Higuchi
Supplies - Patterned Papers: FarmHouse Paper Company (Sugar Hill Collection); Star Charm: WithCharm.com; Twine: May Arts; Ink: Ranger (Walnut Stain Distress Ink); Dies: Spellbinders Paper Arts (S4-374 Country Charm); Adhesives: ScraPerfect (the Best Glue Ever) and SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L (3D Foam Squares)

I made another shaped card using S4-374 Country Charm set's jar die. LOVEd how this turned out - very simple yet has just enough impact :0)

Today, I am attending a mini charity crop for Crop For a Cause, Making MS a Memory. I've been going for five years since the beginning. SO PROUD of my sweet friend Laura for organizing such an amazing event! The big one is Saturday, March 2nd 2013 - come join us if you are in the Chicago area!
